questions for RE- update

I had my forth IUI yesterday. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the RE to discuss what to do next if this doesn't work. Are there any questions I should ask about? Any tests I should ask to have. ( I am undiagnosed)

Re: questions for RE

Have you done medicated? Clomid? Injectables? How many of each were your 4 IUIs?

A lot of REs will try IUIs with Injectibles before going to IVF. You may want to give that a shot if your insurance covers injectables.

I don't believe in the unexplained diagnosis. I too was diagnosed as unexplained during my IUIs and most of my IVFs. I switched REs and finally had some sort of diagnosis.

For IVF I asked lots of questions. What they thought my chances were of it working. What meds I would be on. The time frame for everything. We talked about how many to transfer. I asked about additional testing.

It seems like a lot but when you are in an IVF cycle it goes so fast. If you have any questions please ask. I have done 6 IUIs, 3 IVFs, and a FET. I finally got my miracle baby from IVF 3. Good luck!

I'd suggest injectables. I did clomid and natural and never got pg. Did injectables for each of my children. It's just a better stim, IMO.

Re: questions for RE

I thought we were going to discuss doing injectables with IUI's but he is recommending that we go to IVF. Everything has been fine ( sperm, egg productions).
I'm not sure if I'm happy about this because I just want to get the inevitable over with or terrified because this is the last step , what if it doesn't work. the only thing I am happy about with not doing injectable IUI's is putting all that additional medication into my self for 2 cycles and then it still not working.

What was his reasoning to skip to IVF?

Exactly what happened to me. My RE didn't want to waste time with injectables with IUI. He basically said I ovulate on my own, responded very well to clomid and doesn't think injectables would increase my chances that much. Left it up to me but gave his honest advice. We went straight to IVF. My insurance doesn't cover fertility meds so we thought saving the $$ for IVF was wise.

This is what he said, everything is working how it should be so injectables aren't really going to help.

I'm sorry, but I would have to disagree. Moving on to IVF without giving injectables a try seems like jumping the gun.

I ovulate on my own but natural and clomid IUIs never worked for me. Injectables worked 2 for 2 times. IMO, it doesn't hut to try it for a month or 2, in the grand scheme of time, it's not really a big deal. And it might save you from having to do IVF which is not easy emotionally or physicaly. In fact, I did to IVF, too, and that didn't work. And $25k later, we went back to IUIs and had 2 successful pregnancies.

Re: questions for RE- update

my doctor also told me to go straight to IVf after 4 failed clomid... I asked him about IUI w/injectables and he told me not a good idea, becuz of high risk of multiples and thats not safe for baby....

i am not sure how i felt about his response... but in the end, i am listening to him and going to IVF...

Re: questions for RE- update

I skipped over injectable/iui per my REs recommendation. We did not want multiples and he was certain I would have a high response to injectables. I went to IVF and got pregnant 1st try putting back 1 embryo.
