Do your parents know you are doing IVF? I told my mom I was doing injectables. It was my way of telling her I'd be busy and less available for 2 weeks without divulging the IVF part. I don't know why- part superstition and maybe part just not wanting the extra pressure.

Yea my parents knew everything about what I was going thru. I couldn't imagine them not knowing... My mom came to my ER & ET.

Nope. I haven't told ANYONE IRL that we did IVF multiple times and have a child as a result of it. I'm a very private person. Thank God for this board because I needed to "tell" someone and get advice.

no one knew we were trying for # 2 until I wound up in the ER with bleeding and cramping from a ruptured cyst after my 3rd IUI in June.

Dh had to call my mom and tell her I was in the hospital, yada yada.

I havent told many people we're on this road to IVF. I just started injectables and every day my mom has called asking how I feel. This is precisely WHY i dont want to tell her anything. a) her memory is not so great these days and I have to repeat shit over and over and over. b) I dont need the added pressure.

You have to take your parents' personalities into consideration. We told some family & not others. Def the right choice, in retrospect.

We did 3 fresh and one frozen cycle and for all of them my parents and sister knew as well as my BFF and one of my coworkers who is more like a friend than anything else. Other than them we told no one else and I'm glad we didn't especially not through the procedure. I didn't want anyone asking questions about how's it going etc etc..I just wanted to get through it.

Honestly I don't mind sharing my IF journey if someone else is going through the same thing and needs advice and or a shoulder to lean on.

Other than that I tend to be pretty private about our IF. No one really needs to know our business.

My family knows. When it was not successful I told my mom (who shared with more people than I would have liked) that next time we will keep it just us. I need their support but I don't need the added pressure! Although I know they are all praying for me.... It is an added stress.

I'm kind of a private person. But DH and his big mouth told the world, so I went with it. I wouldn't change it because it felt so much better having so much support and so many people rooting for us! We also did IVF abroad and were gone for two weeks, so it may have been different otherwise.

I told family, friends and others. I feel no shame in it. And it actually helped a few people be cause they said oh my god I'm having issues and no one to talk to.

At first we were very quiet about it but gradually we got more comfortable talking about it. We have one DS who was conceived through IVF and it's pretty much common knowledge among our family and close friends. When we decided to go for #2 we had to tell a few family and friends because of scheduling. Next time, I probably would avoid having people know the exact timing of things. It was great that everyone cared so much but having to update everyone added to our stress.

Round 1 no one knew. I wanted to tell people, but my DH didn't. Round 2 my immediate family and friends knew. Round 3 I told almost everyone.

We told more family and friends as we went into our 3rd round because it just got too hard not to have that support. After success we are now even more open with it

We didn't tell anyone about TTC or our infertility journey until we were pregnant with our DD.
This time around we have been more open but still vague. I think my family just assumes we would need IVF again, but we haven't come out and talked to them about our tx plan.

I told all of my family and most of my friends. We didn't tell any of DH's family. Even after two sets of twins (One from IUI and one from IVF) DH's family doesn't know our story. MIL asked flat out one time (kinda rudely!) but we were out to dinner with people and it wasnt an appropriate time to discuss it and it hasn't been brought up since.
