Why do I always get bubbles in my nail polish?
Ever since I started doing gel manicures at home, my nails are in pretty bad shape.
When I paint my nails with regular polish, I always get tons of air bubbles and it looks terrible!
Is it user error or could it be the condition of my nails?
I never had this issue before and it doesn't happen to my toes.
What the heck? What can I do?

Why do I always get bubbles in my nail polish?
Do you use a base coat?
Also, do you shake the bottle before you apply it? If so, try not to. Just sort of roll it between your palms. Or, if you do shake it, then let it sit for a few minutes before you apply it.

I do use a base coat, a top coat too. I do shake the bottle but I think I always have.

For me that happens if I don't let the polish dry enough between coats, or use too thick of a layer ( which leads to it not drying.)
It seems ok, and then at the end it is all bubbly & gross.
I don't know how the salon manicurists do one coat right after the other. Maybe because they thin out the polishes, but this causes them to chip more.
Also, some topcoats say apply to fully dry nails, and those work better for me if I put them on teh next day, so everything underneath is fully dry (just don't do dishes or hand laundry without cloves until you put the topcoat on.)

I was told years ago that not letting the coats dry enough is the cause of this. I find the advice really helped. Also, too thick of a coat may also cause it.
