Fruit flies!!
Anyone else notice more than usual?
I am a crazy cleaner, but can't seem to get rid of these fruit flies. I just had to put the fruit in the fridge and now washing out the fruit bowl. Leaving nothing out!! I noticed at a friend's recently she said she's having the same issue.
How do I get rid of them?
Thanks!

Re: Fruit flies!!
Yes, having the same issue. I have no fruit out and I have scrubbed the whole kitchen and I still see 1 or 2 flying around.
DH has out cups of balsamic vinegar with a few drops of dish soap. They seem to like this and the dish soap helps to make them sink instead of just get some vinegar and fly away. He also bought from home depot a fruit fly trap. It is all natural looks like a little apple and I have seen a few fly into it. It lasts for 30 days and I am just leaving it on the window sill.
But the last 1 or 2 are just lingering around, it is killing me that we can't kill them!!
My moms friend said she has them too.

Re: Fruit flies!!
Drives me crazy. We had them a few weeks ago.
We did apple cider vinegar in a jar with dish soap - then made a paper funnel so they fly in and then can't get out.

Fruit flies!!
Any plants around? Check the soil. If you do, dry out the plant a few days. They like moisture.

Fruit flies!!
I have them in my OFFICE and they are driving me insane. There is no food sitting around - nothing I can think of that would attract them. It is making me crazy.

Re: Fruit flies!!
they also breed in the drain so make sure to pour boiling water and white vinegar down (or bleach)......and remember if you have traps of vinegar out don't dump that down the drain or you will attract them to the drain where they like to breed

Re: Fruit flies!!
We just got rid of an epidemic of them in our house! Took 2 weeks but they appear to be gone. Not sure why we had them, we had NO fruit or other food out lying around. Every day we put out a bottle with some apple cider vinegar in it, then made a paper funnel so they could fly in but it was hard to find their way out. They really flocked to it - we would see tons in the bottle each night.

Re: Fruit flies!!
We're dealing with the same thing! It's been a problem since it was really hot around Labor Day. I've been a crazy lady with cleaning and made a fruit fly trap and the problem has not been resolved.
