Oh Boy! Found this online...
Fighting a swarm of flies that have taken residence in your sink? Try filling the sink with ammonia-based cleaners partially and let it trickle down the drain. The longer it stays the better
HTH Good Luck!

Re: Ewww help! Fruit flies!
Those aren't fruit flies, they're drain flies and they feed off the sludge in the drain
Every few days, I dump a whole load of baking soda in the drain, then pour white vinegar over it and it foams up and cleans the drain right out. It should do the trick. With a small child at home, I try not to use ammonia too much like the pp suggested, so I'd try doing that only if the baking soda and vinegar doesn't work.

Re: Ewww help! Fruit flies!
I'm also a big fan of baking soda for drains. I hadn't heard about the vinegar before, that's a great suggestion!
I hope you get rid of them soon.

Re: Ewww help! Fruit flies!
I do the same things (baking soda & vinegar) to clean all of my drains once a week. If you have a sink garbage disposal then you can also use lemons and ice cubes to clean the drain with the disposal running.
