DOE salary mess-up!
I just realized I am not currently on the correct salary step. I am on the very first level when I should be the higher one with Masters. I'm pretty sure I was on the correct level last year. Has this happened to anyone else? Will I be able to get retro pay???

You have to apply to get your differential. Send in transcripts and all that jazz. It's not granted automatically. Depending when you got your masters you may not get paid retro. Hopefully you're within the 6 month window.

No, I've had my masters for years and this is my 2nd year full time in the DOE. I'm pretty sure I applied for the differential last year, so weird. I looked on the payroll portal and it shows I've consistently been on the lowest level. I'm almost 100% sure I applied for the differential last year, but there doesn't seem to be a record of it. This stinks.

There should be a record of it since the process to apply is online. Did you send in your transcripts? I walked mine in last year and they make you sign a log with your I want to say order number of the online application.
It still took awhile after that for it to process. I started my application in August, dropped off transcripts in October and had to call to ask what's the status come January. I finally got my retro money January/Feb.

I did it in person. I remember I applied and soon after I saw my checks increasing. I guess now I have to play detective and go through my pay stubs from last year

That's crazy. Definitely look at your pay stubs. I would check every possible record on payroll portal too. You can look at the sal differential requests, and on the payroll register they have a few different options to see your salary change, pay stubs and steps. Good luck!!

Also I was emailed when they completed my salary step and differential. So check your emails for records!
