Has anyone changed their diet or drinking less alcohol during this time of TTC? If you are eating differently, what are you eating or not eating?

I did not change my diet when I was ttc. I continued to drink socially. I was told to take a OTC prenatal vitamin. You have nine months of restrictions once you become pregnant- My RE advised me to continue with my normal routine.

I stopped drinking alcohol in the 2ww but haven't changed my diet otherwise. Still having 1 cup of coffee a day. Once I get a bfp I'll be more strict with things.

In general I have tried to limit my sugar intake and just a little healthier so it's not a complete shock to my system when I finally get my bfp. I don't drink alcohol during the 2ww, just in case.

I had tried cutting back on my coffee for a while, but the RE told me I didn't need to yet, so I am back to my 2-3 cups a day. I think giving up caffeine will be the hardest part for me and dh lol.

Re: Foods/ drinking

I'm kind of going the other way. I've been eating junk b/c I feel stressed and anxious. I really need to get it under control.

I don't drink anyway, so that's easiest part for me Chat Icon

I did not change a thing diet-wise while TTC. I was still socially drinking and maintained my regular eating habits. Once I got the BFP I started googling what foods to avoid just to be sure. I also never gave up my 1 cup of coffee a day throughout the entire pregnancy and also occasionally have other caffeinated beverages later in the day.

I wasn't clear in my post, sorry guysChat Icon
What I meant was are you eating anything to help boost fertility during this time of TTC...
With DD I didn't do anything different and got a BFP the first month we tried. This time it's taking way longer so I didn't know if there were certain foods that could help.

i've gotten preg. twice and never really changed anything up. still had coffee everyday, drank wine occasionally during the tww, etc.

this time, i'm still not changing much up. I'm sick right now, so i've been drinking alot of tea and having soup, which i heard is actually good during the TWW because warm foods apparently make a difference. Not sure how much of that I believe, but I guess we will see! lol

I did start taking vitamin D while I was TTC. The month after I started, I got my BFP. It could be because of the vitamin D, it could be because I was hyper aware of O week and jumped DH's bones every day for that entire week. Chat Icon Though I did that the month before, too, and BFN. It doesn't hurt to try!

This is VERY true. If you are a big milk drinker, ice cold water or any cold beverages instead of room temperature....stop. Your body needs to be warm to be receptive.

But how does the temperature of the food or drinks you ingest effect your uterus? I don't understand. Chat Icon

Re: Foods/ drinking

I did IVF and changed the way I ate during my FET cycles(the ones where I had success). I would eat warm foods (oatmeal, soup, etc) and only drank water, orange juice, peppermint tea leading up to ovulation and after my embryo transfers.

Good luck

Cold drinks make you cold....milk & dairy are cold to your body - they are "damp" producing foods for the body. They make your insides cold. Your uterus needs to be warm and receptive to a baby. A friend of mine is an acupuncturist and told me all of this. After thousands of years of Chinese medicine, I figured they had to be on to something so I gave it a whirl. Chat Icon

One way to tell....if you drink a cup of tea or hot coffee, do you feel your body temperature rise so that you are sweaty a little while drinking? I did not have that at all. After a couple of weeks of drinking a cup of ginger tea every night, I started to feel some sweat beads on my upper lip while drinking.....that's how I knew my body was starting to warm up.
