B list wedding invite

If you receive a wedding invitation where you are obviously B list, do you still send a gift? I didn't even know they were engaged until the bride texted me for my address. She came to my wedding a few years ago because we used to work together, but since then she's gotten a new job and we haven't spoken in over a year. There is no question about being B list because the RSVP date was taped over with a more recent date. You could see the actual RSVP date had passed.

I'm not offended because we aren't close. I can't go to the wedding because I already had plans that day (and its such short notice). But I don't really feel the need to send a gift to someone who only sent me an invitation because they were under their minimum and looking to fill more seats. Just curious what other people would do.

I'd probably just send a congratulations / wedding card and include the response card in it. It's more about the thought than the gift.

If there's a registry, maybe I'd send a small gift from there, but I definitely don't think you would be wrong to not send any gift.

B list wedding invite

Wow, that's tacky to tape over the original RSVP date. At least send it out a little later than the first round, but still before the RSVP.

I wouldn't send a gift and I wouldn't go

Super tacky. I wouldn't send anything. I didn't think people actually DID "B" lists.

You should teach her a lesson and show up to the wedding and bring a cheap-o registry item.

I was originally going to say no gift, but I always tend to send something small. I agree you could get something small from the registry

B list wedding invite

I had a similar thing happen recently with a baby shower. Never got an invite but then got a text after the RSVP date asking if I was going. The shower was only a week away and I already had plans, so I said no and sent no gift. They claimed the invite must have gotten lost in the mail, but then a couple weeks later, they texted DH asking for our address for another party invite. So if they had really sent the first invite, wouldn't they have already had our address? :Hah: That erased any guilt I had been feeling about missing the baby shower.
