im a ninja. im "helping' my bff. she wants to get married in MARCH 2016. a month ago she was like "so, can you come with me to some venues?"
10 minutes later I had a list of venues and told her to wear full coverage underwear without skid marks because I made her a dress appointment as well.

I went to a weddings here and it was the worst wedding I've ever been to. I don't know if it's the way the couple had it set up or what, but there was no seating once dinner ended. They served cake and coffee on the dance floor, which no one took because no one has trays for arms. Nowhere to sit down for hours.

My cousin just had his wedding at Insignia in Smithtown.
They do Saturday, day weddings. The restaurant is closed to the public.
It was really nice.

I loved Green Building but with catering, it gets expensive. We checked out basically every interesting lost space and Queens Farm and by the time you add food and drink, it's over $200 a person.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration has barn weddings! Look them up- they look lovely. One of my friends from HS had hers there.

I went to a black-tie fundraiser kind of political dinner thingamajig at this location -- in a huge, restored barn. It was gorgeous!! I was SO surprised.
Thank you for mentioning because I should have suggested it but I kind of "forgot" about it initially.
It was a beautiful and unique venue.

Unique yet reasonable wedding venue?
Don't know if you would be interested in Manhattan, but a close relative of mine had their wedding at Alger House in the village. VERY unique, check them out on the web. It's a old carriage house that has a loft. Beautiful facility- I would think 100 would be the maximum it could hold for a sit down dinner.

bayside historical society by the throgs neck bridge rents out their space and you can cater the food in. pretty reasonable last i looked (2010)

i had my second wedding at the Three Village Inn, in Stony Brook. We had about 80 people. It was really nice!
