Daycare vent
On Friday, one of the teachers in my son's daycare class told me he was so horrible when he first started there that she almost quit her job. She said it in a joking manner but I thought it was pretty rude. My son started daycare when he was 4 months and he was a very fussy infant, I don't deny this. But really, how unprofessional is this comment?

Daycare vent
Yes, I would be very turned off. Even if it was in jest. A few times if my DD was having a bad day or acting sassy etc I'd apologize to the teacher and she would say hey shes akid! Or hey thats what we are here for etc etc.. If i heard yeah she was a *** Id be annoyed even if I said it first LOL

Completely unprofessional. I'd be pissed.

Re: Daycare vent
I would be upset and concerned.
Being a daycare teacher, to me, when they do their job right they are SAINTS. The ones at my son's daycare are so lovely and even in the most stressful situations ALWAYS remain calm, loving, warm, and understanding. I remember apologizing or feeling bad and they would say, oh it's nothing! He's a baby! This is what we do, we are here to just soothe him, and this too shall pass. That sort of thing.
It was BEYOND comforting to know that when the shit hits the fan, they remain calm, which helps the situation, rather than stress and/or complain about it. They have never, ever complained to me about his behavior in terms of normal baby stuff like crying, fussy, etc.
That would rub me alllllll sorts of the wrong way.

Daycare vent
I would have said I hear you......My DS made me want to quit being a mommy some days. I am sure my DS is still giving them a hard time years later.

Most things don't bother me, but this would piss me off. Not professional, at all and I would question how she handles kids when they are less than perfect.

Eh depends on your relationship with them. I'm very close to the teachers at daycare and I call her a beast when she's a beast. They are nicer about it but they will let me know when she has been tough.

Is she young? Does she have no filter? I can see this with many young girls I know.

This. There have been some daycare teachers that we have become very close with over the years and they say things in jest all the time. I know my younger DS is a monster. I feel so bad for the girls who deal with him all day. But if it were a newer teacher or one I barely knew, yes that would annoy me.

ITA with this. I call DD a hot mess all the time and if someone agrees with me, they're just paying attention.
But seriously, she was joking and I'm sure didn't mean any harm.

I'm with you! My DS was a very trying, needy infant. If they said this, I'd probably agree with them. Plus, I realize they're only human.
My daycare lady says my DS cracks her up everyday - not sure if it's a good or bad thing
