You can fly anytime except your 3rd trimester...is that right?

I was told I wasn't able to fly after 32 weeks.

Flying

I can still fly at 28 weeks (third trimester) but really don't want to. I flew at 25 weeks and was insanely uncomfortable in the seats. So even if you can, you might not want to! My doctor had said I could probably go past 32 weeks if I needed to though.

Re: Flying

I wanted to get one last DH and me trip in before the baby comes....was thinking Hawaii but I would imagine that that would be a LONG flight in terms of sitting for that long, circulation, etc.

Re: Flying

I just flew to PR and back (Thurs - Mon) in the 32nd week (33 weeks today). Pregnancy has had no complications so far and I am not high risk in any way, so the Dr. said it was okay, just to get up and stretch/walk every hour or so. Flight was ~4 hours on the way there, ~ 3:30 on the way back.

On the way there, I felt totally fine (though I probably peed like 4 times during the flight) even though the flight was pretty turbulent. I didn't really have issues getting comfortable or anything.

On the way back, I hadn't slept great the night before and I was just tired in general, and I could not get comfortable. Restless leg syndrome like crazy. Flight was super smooth and getting up to move around did help. That said, still glad I went and it was a short enough flight that it really wasn't too much to suffer through.

If you had an aisle seat and maybe even in the bulkhead, you might be fine. I was on 8 flights in December and by the last one, I was just ready to stop flying because my lower back was starting to hurt me and I just couldn't get comfortable (and forget about reaching for my carry-on under the seat in front of me!) But for most of those flights, I was without my DH and also lugging a computer bag and carry-on luggage. If your DH was carrying everything, you might also be okay.

As for getting up and circulation issues, I got up every 30 or so minutes (to either walk or pee) and I wore compression socks on all my flights.

Oh yeah, definitely aisle seats. That was key. And totally agree on not being able to reach under the seat...had to kind of pull my bag out with my feet to get it. I was traveling with both DH and SIL, though, so I really didn't have to carry/lift anything. That definitely made it easier. And I brought a ton of water on the plane, and a variety of snacks (almonds, trail mix, some red licorice in case I needed a little sugar). Lots of water is definitely key also, planes are so dehydrating!

Depending on the airline, you can fly up until the end. Each airline has their own restrictions. And depending on your individual health, your OB will have her own recommendations, too. It also depends on where/how far you're flying.

Too many variables in your question, without enough specifics. Chat Icon

So it's doable, just not comfortable. Maybe Florida sounds like a better option Chat Icon
