Starter Work Wardrobe
I'm going to be starting a new job that requires a dress code of business casual. I've been wearing scrubs for 10 years... I need help to build a whole work appropriate (plus size) wardrobe. I can't completely break the bank either. Please help!

Maybe NY & Company? They usually have crazy sales and sign up to get their coupons. Not sure about in the stores but online has extended sizes. Good luck at the new job!

A few pairs of pants a couple skirts and tops. You can wear the pants and just switch out the tops.
My wardrobe is black, blue pants; a few dresses; black shirt and a dozen tops. Easy peasey.

Definitely NY&Co. I like Kohl's, too. Business casual isn't too bad- you mostly need a couple pair of dress pants to start- you can make sweaters, t-shirts, etc. work for you.

Basic pants and a couple of nice tops and sweaters are good for business casual. Dresses and skirts if you are into them. Check out the department stores, most are having good clearance sales. Went shopping last week at Lord & Taylor and did good with the sales. I am plus sized too with the added problem of being tall.

Honestly - Marshalls, TJ Maxx and JC Penney are the core of my work wardrobe. Here are my staples:
Worthington black skinny ankle pants - I must own 6 pairs, they are my holy grail work pants.
Loose blouses - Again, these are my staples. I find the best selections and TJ Maxx and Marshalls (Kenar, Dahlia, Cynthia Rowley, Soiree).
A few good quality cardigans or loose blazers.
Black and nude pumps, black and nude flats.
ACCESSORIES - earrings, necklaces, watch.
Honestly, you can make any outfit look like a million bucks as long as you look polished. Like even today, I dressed "down" and I'm wearing dark skinny jeans, nude flats, black loose top, leopard scarf, long silver Pandora necklace, Burberry watch and diamond studs. I feel 1000000000000000000% better about myself when I dress nicely, have my makeup on and my hair done nicely. I get complimented a lot on how "put together" I look. My boss is big on appearance and she is always complimenting me.

Re: Starter Work Wardrobe
I should be able to work with a few things I already have. Definitely need to invest in nice pants. I have some pretty tunic style tops. My wadrobe is mostely black anyway. Thanks for the tips!

Kohls, NYCO. I have to be business casual for work but at the same time my clothes get destroyed from working hands on with my residents, some are very rough and my clothes get ripped. I find they hold up well all else aside, look nice, and are inexpensive I prefer kohls over NYCO

Ny and co is great for a starter wardrobe - check for coupons. Get a couple of pairs of black pants, navy, grey. I would say plain pants meaning no patterns that way you can wear they again and again and no one will know! Sweaters / blouses/ cardigans. One pair black and one pair nude pumps.

I tend to wear the same thing over and over again.
Black skinny pants from gap (I own a ton of pairs, and they're my favorite. I actually prefer my maternity ones bc they have a demi-panel and feel like leggings, even though my pre-preggo ones fit me fine lol)
I wear a loose blouse/sweater..Nordstroms, Marshalls, H&M
I prefer flats, so I usually wear black ballet flats, but if I wear heels I have black patent heels
On the rare occasion I wear a dress, they're usually from Nordstroms

Ok, because you mentioned that you are plus size, and I am too, I'm not going to think you'll find much at NYCO, unless you are a very small plus size with no boobs. I do well in Macy's with Style & co and INC. Marshalls, tj Maxx, very hit or miss for plus size I find, you have to have a lot of patience. I'm a size 16 pants and like 18 too for the boobs (if not bigger) and this is my experience.

ITA with this. I wear a size 12/14 and NYCO will be snug if you have a larger chest. I can get pants in there and some tops but non of the button downs will fit. I do well at Macys, dress barn, Kohls sometimes, old navy for pants because I need petite.

Re: Starter Work Wardrobe
List a previous poster wrote above ankle plants are great. You can wear them all year long with boots, flats, ankle booties rolled up, heels....looks good with all of that.
I like to wear summer short sleeve or tank blouses and then in the colder months add a cute cardigan over it.
Add a cheap necklace and braclet (watch ny&co sales when they have it all for $6.99 or $7.99) and you look all pulled together.
Or add a bright colored scarf when you feel like crap and everyone thinks you look good That's my go to when I am tired as heck, add a bright scarf and people think you look good
