It would definitely be Trump. There is no way I would ever vote for Sanders and I am registered Democrat. He wants to raise taxes and provide free healthcare and education. ALl nice ideas but I don't think he can really pay for it. It kind of works in Germany but that country is so small and do we want to be taxed to death?
I would take Trump for 4 years if he could financially benefit this country and not screw us more in taxes.
Why do we never bat an eyelash when the president want to spend billions on war/military but decry the fall of civilization at the thought of helping our own people?
God forbid I am entitled to my own opinion that doesn't go along with everyone else.
Wasn't there a thread about that yesterday that got pulled?
I am all for helping. There is helping and there is pilfering. And to everyone else, I never said anything about corporate america not needing an overhaul with their perks either.
It is not one or the other, I have MY OWN opinions about issues. Just because I said I would vote for Trump doesn't mean I agree with everything he says.
Do you agree with EVERYTHING Sanders says? Probably not.
Ronald Reagan created the myth of this incendiary Welfare Queen back in the 80s to help solidify his paltform for tax cuts and welfare reform.
Why do people keep perpetuating these myths?
And while yes - maybe there are people who take advantage in some way, shape or form I would venture to say that it's not nearly as prevalent as politicians would have you believe simply because the welfare system in and of itself is designed to discourage inclusion as there are limits to what type of benefits people can get, how long they can receive them for, dollar caps, etc. And the largest population receiving some form of government assistance are the elderly and children.
And please - spare me any stories about how you know someone's uncle's stepson's sister in law who knows someone who went to school with a drug dealer who was on welfare and would drive an Escalade to pick up his check.
7 Common Myths about Welfare
ETA:
You want people to work, but you don't want to pay a fair living wage.
You want kids to go to college, but make it unaffordable without the use of predatory student loans.
You don't think affordable access to medical care is a basic, human right.
The list goes on and on. But Howard Stern deserves a break, OK, got it. Joe Schmoe who can't put food on his table, doesn't.
Actually, it's not just drug dealers. It's hard working men divorcing their wives on paper, but still living together so the wife can collect her welfare checks, and he can make 100k a year. Then they cram their 5 kids, and grandmother into their 3 bedroom apartment and work the system.
Happens more than you think, we know someone first hand that does this.
Bernies tax plan is going to force more and more corporations over seas He wants to tax the wealthiest 50% of their income? Well guess what, that is when layoffs continue, raises stop, hiring stops, etc... Sure raise minimum wage to $15 an hour, but when people are laid off to make up for the additional taxes and pay increase, it will all blow up. You cannot give everyone free education, someone is paying, we cannot continue to provide free healthcare for illegals, our country cannot afford it. Something has to give, and a socialist economy (which Bernie is) is not the way.
I am sorry but Trump will do a much better job than Bernie.
The percentage for Trump based on this poll is pretty high for a Liberal State. We have a lot of red states in this country, and I have a feeling Trump is going to take this one all the way. Hillary is not going to make enough of a change to be elected, people are tired of Obama, and she is not offering much difference.
Long Island is generally pretty red... have you read comments on News12 or Newsday?
No I stay far far away from Newsday. NY as a whole is a democratic state.

I don't care if I even agree with some of Trumps agenda he has no business to be in office and I cant believe people actually want to see him in office. really those people should be ashamed of themselves the amount of stupid shit he has said should be enough to not vote for him.
it will be a sad/disappointing/embarrassing day if Trump actually gets elected to be our president.
Oh you mean like this?

This is Sanders tax plan (it's a graphic. Very simple) http://rebrn.com/re/the-new-bernie-sanders-proposed-tax-brackets-compared-to-rates-t-2146145/IMAGE
If we are trillions in debt, and can't pay our current bills, how does cutting taxes for EVERYONE somehow give us enough money to do anything? He's going to have to cut budgets for everything, including the military. Math is math (except for Trump... he has the MOST AMAZING math...)
It sounds like pandering to me. He's going to promise tax cuts for everyone, then if he gets elected, he'll blame Congress or the Dems for forcing him to increase taxes higher than Sander's numbers. He has a track record of doing stuff like that with his businesses.....
During the 1950s and early 1960s, the top bracket income tax rate was over 90%--and the economy, middle-class, and stock market boomed.
Not being snarky, because I just don't know...what was the amount of people receiving social services during the 50's and 60s? What were the social services limited to during that time? What was the military budget? how many illegal aliens were receiving social services in this country?
For a small example, I just looked it up, WIC was entered as a pilot program in 1972 and became a permanent program in 1975. I am NOT saying we should not help women and children, it is just an example of 1 program that did not exist in the time you are referencing. It was a different time, post WWII in the 50's, women were not prevalent in the work force, you really can't compare that time with now.
It was asked why someone who makes a lot of money should pay almost 50%, and I pointed out that at one point, the upper class paid 90% (94% in 1944). Under a good part of Reagan's term, the upper class was paying 50%. For many decades it was well over 60% It's not precedent-setting by any means. I wasn't addressing what was done with the money, only that the rich have paid a lot in income taxes in the past. I'm not even saying whether it's good or bad, just that it's been implemented by both parties and for a long time.

why should someone, like HOward Stern, who has busted his arse to make his career, who came from nothing and to get where he is, now have to fork over 50% of his income? This is ridiculous. We are not a socialist country, although it does feel like we are on the road to that.
That's a pretty good tax plan, and that is NOT a socialist tax rate-- trust me. I laugh when people say that that tax plan compares to a socialist tax rate . Some people have no clue...
I pay about 40-50% tax and I do not make what Howard Stern makes... Not even close.

But but but... Trickle down! It works, right?
I am married to an economist...and while I cannot explain any of this stuff to save my life, he says it does not work.
Are you able to share who your hubby thinks would be good for the economy as a whole? Or what systems he thinks work and what doesn't? I would imagine people who study this stuff would be more apt to have a concrete understanding than the normal person
I will then I may hide for a while.
He was very disappointed that Joe Biden did not get into the race, because he feels Biden was strongest with regard to job creation. He feels Hillary is a good option on the economic front. I feel she is too beholden to Wall Street and I feel she is not honest. So we disagree there because I have supported Bernie for ages. But he said he feels a Bernie presidency would be better than any Republican, because his research has shown him hat the economy has historically grown more under Democrats (I am not sure how far back he went, I doubt he was talking about Lincoln.) He also thinks single payer health care would be better than what we have now, but I do not understand why.

ANYONE is better than Trump. I would be better than trump in office
Anyone except Cruz. That guy scares the bejesus out of me.
I like Sanders. He has integrity, and he sticks with his core values even if they are not popular. That being said, I am somewhat fiscally conservative so some of his ideas make me nervous. However, morally I could never vote for Trump with his fearmongering and disgusting rascism. What a travesty if he was the face and voice of our country (although part of me still hopes/thinks that he is just saying what he thinks will appeal to the masses or even just testing to see how far he can go)

Socialist tax rate, approximately in Germany is over 60% of the salary. It is a small country, comparatively to the US.

What is Hillary? Upstanding? Honest? She has been lying since before she got into the WH with Bill. None of them don't lie, they are politicians, it is some version of the truth for all of them, red, blue or independent. Asshole maybe but none of them are saints with the truth.

I am a woman and I am most certainly not ashamed of myself. I am intrigued you think I should be just because I do not agree with you. No one should be told they should be ashamed of how they feel because of a different view point. Neither side should say people are stupid, ignorant, jerks, or any other name calling, made to feel bad about your beliefs crap you can come up with. I am sure you and I do not agree on a lot of things but I would never tell you that you should be ashamed of how you feel.
I agree with you. No one should vote for Hillary because she is a woman, but people will. Like people voted for Obama because he was black. Race, religion and gender should not play into the choice. If you agree with the candidate of your choice on as many issues as you can live with, that is where you go.
None of the candidates on either side are stellar. They are all a bunch of goose eggs. Everyone just has to pick they egg they think they can live with.

This is Sanders tax plan (it's a graphic. Very simple) http://rebrn.com/re/the-new-bernie-sanders-proposed-tax-brackets-compared-to-rates-t-2146145/IMAGE
why should someone, like HOward Stern, who has busted his arse to make his career, who came from nothing and to get where he is, now have to fork over 50% of his income? This is ridiculous. We are not a socialist country, although it does feel like we are on the road to that.
That's a pretty good tax plan, and that is NOT a socialist tax rate-- trust me. I laugh when people say that that tax plan compares to a socialist tax rate . Some people have no clue...
I pay about 40-50% tax and I do not make what Howard Stern makes... Not even close.
Socialist tax rate, approximately in Germany is over 60% of the salary. It is a small country, comparatively to the US.
I'm pretty happy with the taxes I pay. I get a lot and life here is very good.
It is great you enjoy it. I have friends on both sides, some who do not and some who do. It is all perspective, like anything else.

Re: Spinoff: If you had to
Clearly a lot of people should feel ashamed of themselves because he is dominating the Republican side.

Why should people be ashamed of themselves?
Should people be ashamed of themselves because they voted for Bill Clinton? Or they support Sanders?

Thank you. Regardless of how someone feels, it is mean to tell someone they should be ashamed of how they feel.

What is Hillary? Upstanding? Honest? She has been lying since before she got into the WH with Bill. None of them don't lie, they are politicians, it is some version of the truth for all of them, red, blue or independent. Asshole maybe but none of them are saints with the truth.
what does lying have anything to with the shit trump says??!! I never gave any opnion on any candidate cause I have none except trump he is not only a asshole but a moron. and clearly has no respect for women with the quote in the image. did you look at the image are you defending what he said? you think someone who thinks like that should be our president. and you are women? I will say it again you should be ashamed of yourself.
and if its no clear. I don't think we should be voting for Hilary just because she is a women.
I don't think you should be ashamed of your self because you don't agree with me. I think you should be ashamed of yourself for supporting someone who has no respect for women.
do you defend what he said in that quote ? you have no problem voting for him though he said this? do you really think that low of yourself? as a women how you can think what he said is ok and say you will for him in office.
what's your reasoning to be able to ignore all the stupid shit he has said and done and think he should really be representing America.
i have no idea how any women or man actually really wants to vote for him

Re: Spinoff: If you had to
and if people bother to look at the poll results, 48 people said they would pick Trump, but I guess they didn't want to be bullied about their opinion.
I love how this board is so hypocritical about what you can bully someone about.

You are saying I should be ashamed of myself for picking him, do not mince words.
I do not have to defend my choice to YOU. Who are YOU to ask that I should? What explanation do I owe YOU? NONE.

You may not realize this, but your opinion of Trump, or anything really, is not really the only one that matters. I'm so glad everyone is entitled their own opinion without having to check with you first.
