Posted by JustBrowsing Those are my 5 reasons. Feel free to debate amongst yourselves, as I will not.
I think that was said fairly without much snark. Thanks.
Being Texan, the border is definitely an issue. You are ABSOLUTELY right that most of this country has NO CLUE how bad it really is. Words don't really sink in. It's extreme and affects us all (more so us who are closer). However having a rather dark skinned family and including a rather middle eastern looking brother who is often referred to as "Paki" it is a bit terrifying the general hate.
Also having a husband who's a legal green card holder, how long before we stop looking at brown and move to the yellow? And being an Atheist, when will be we hunted over Muslims?
But thank you for your reasons.
I am sorry that your brother has to endure this, it is terrible. People need to evolve past skin color, religion and ethnicity. Unfortunately, it something that has been s struggled over forever.
My DH is of German descent. He is frequently called a Nazi and ridiculed as such. DOes anyone think at 38 he was really in Nazi occupied Germany during WW2? No, but yet he is a Nazi because of his last name.

Re: Spinoff: If you had to
Interesting thread. A lot of good points made on both sides.
Dh has also met Trump on a job site (dh is a union carpenter) and he liked him, and dh is a giant Democrat while I lean conservative but am a registered independent.
Something that I think is worth mentioning here is that Trump is pro union (at least construction-wise). Because he does so much construction in NYC he understands the value of union labor/training/standards over non union companies who use a lot of illegal immigrant unskilled labor. Non union companies in nyc generally do a shit job, dangerously unsafe to cut costs with absolutely no regard for safety as their workers are expendable in their eyes.
I like Trump, im not sure if he's really going to take it to the end but i'm ready for that wall to be built. Union of course

Please. Trump can't even handle Megyn Kelly being "mean" to him and you would trust this guy with the nukes? Hell to the no.
1. He insults women.
2. His "fact check" record is something like 5%. Only 5% of what he says is true.
3. Mexico has increased their efforts to stop South Americans going through their country to illegally come to the US. The boarder cities in Mexico (and Mexico's resources) are thin because of all the illegals in THIER country.
4. We need to continue to help Mexico fight THEIR illegal problem, which will help ours.
5. Mexico wont build a wall, and they wont pay for it. Period.
6. Suggesting we register and ban all Muslims coming into the country? I cant even wrap my brain around this, nor can I believe that people are behind this. I say we register all evangelical Christians because they are murdering abortion doctors. (but I digress).
7. He would "bomb the SHHHT" out of "them". Then being Isis. Because bombing everything, going in blind, killing civilians (other candidates have said Carpet bomb) and pissing off all those countries is a good idea.
8. He has a very disgusting case of verbal diarrhea. He insults everyone and anyone. WOMEN especially. He said John McCain is not a war hero, that Megan Kelly was bleeding from "I don't know where", he has insulted Carly Fiorino on her looks, He has said he likes a woman on her knees....and list goes on.
Do you all know that he completely scammed some poor SOB into doing the Wolman rink for free? This hard working man was approached by Trump. Did not speak English well. Trump said "We do Pro Bono right?" The guy said yes yes, great work, pro bono. Then Trump screwed this guy when he came for payment.
Can anyone ACTUALLY see him across the table from Angela Merkel? King Salman? Gordon Brown? (We know Russian Prez just LOVES him).
He would make our country a laughing stock because he knows nothing about running a country.
However his detriment is the name calling and the mouth. You CANT say what you think all the time. I know people are finding this sort of attitude endearing and part of why they like him. But when he says Things like "Says crime statistics show blacks kill 81 percent of white homicide victims" You have to take note of how disgusting he is.
Sorry. I respect peoples views. I just don't understand how all of this is ok for a president.
Trump has about a 6% truth (or mostly) to what he says. Compared to Hillary at about 75% true (or Mostly).

So well said - thank you
I too cannot wrap my head around why people support this ignorant *******.
The first thing that baffles me is the amount of women friends on my FB feed that support him MEANWHILE, his comments and opinions about women are deplorable.
Wake up people, he will NOT make this country better. I am very worried if this asswipe gets elected what will become of this country, because it is NOT what everyone who supports him thinks it will be.

Ahhdunno this LIF poll is pretty tight! If Trump does stay in this is going to get very interesting.
Out of curiosity, what do you think the Clinton/Sanders camps are thinking about Trump's numbers? Are they biting their nails or ignoring?

Playing devil's advocate.. I don't think people are "ok" with the what Trump spews out.. its ignorant, and he ignites a lot of negative emotions in people. On the flip side its Bernie or Hillary.. and Bernie's tax plan is nuts. Hillary is much better but I think she's got a lot of baggage, and it shows that people are not too keen about her.
If it was a toss up between Bernie and Trump, many of my family and community will sway Trump (and he's insulted my gender, my people.. everything).. mainly because of Bernie's tax hike.

Just focusing on the Trump tax "plan", if you actually look into it more than just what he is screaming, it will basically benefit the super-rich, and bankrupt the country (even more than it already is). Programs across the board will have to be slashed and burned to pay for his tax cuts, the deficit will skyrocket, interest rates will rise significantly, etc, etc.
"Trickle-down" economics doesn't work, and it's been proven that it doesn't work, but he wants to try it again... mainly to help himself and his cronies.

Not disputing the facts, Trump's plan leaves a lot to be desired as well but Bernie is about squeeze the life out people in taxes. And he really needs to stop sayin I Raq.. Even though Iraq starts with an I its prounced Eeraq.. I cringe every time says that..

It would definitely be Trump. There is no way I would ever vote for Sanders and I am registered Democrat. He wants to raise taxes and provide free healthcare and education. ALl nice ideas but I don't think he can really pay for it. It kind of works in Germany but that country is so small and do we want to be taxed to death?
I would take Trump for 4 years if he could financially benefit this country and not screw us more in taxes.
Every politician raises taxes - even when they say they won't. ("Read my lips") At least he is honest and says he plans to raise them, and how/where he plans to spend the money.

I can't fault him on that. That's the American / English pronunciation of these countries. There would also be a difference between I- rack or I- rock. If you go by that logic, you might as well start saying Deutschland for Germany.
ETA: But then again, he uses the proper (local) pronunciation for Qatar, so I guess he isn't very consistent .

This might be the most troubling thing to me about Trump. An endorsement by a man who runs an 'organization' which has killed people because of their skin color- and not a peep from Trump that he does not want this man's support. He has to know about the amount of white supremacist support he has, and yet he has never denounced racism, in general or from his supporters.
Should he win (and I do think he will beat Hillary) it would not surprise me one bit if we see the return of internment camps- for Muslim Americans, for undocumented people, for anyone who pisses him off.
I am really curious to see if he releases his tax returns. If the Republicans want him out, this could be their path.
