Is anyone a college consultant / college advisor? That's a lot of what I do now and I love that component of my job. I'm currently working in a public school but wonder what it'd be like to be out of a high school setting. I'd love input from those in the field!

My husband works for a career center at a local university, and he loves it. You should call one near you and set up an "informational interview" - people are usually pretty happy to discuss what they do.

You probably have a better salary at a public school with better benefits, pension, and time off. My sister works in higher ed admin and her salary stinks after 10 years.
I work in a city HS so I know the challenges associated with education, but I think there are more pros to our profession than hers.
