Insurance help
Our insurance doesn't cover any infertility and after destroying our savings with many failed fertility treatments I am now looking into changing my job to one that has insurance coverage. What insurance do you have and what does it cover??

Re: Insurance help
Every insurance PLAN is different. You can't go by the insurance company. It's the specific plan that's negotiated by each employer.

Yes I am aware. However, my insurance PLAN doesn't cover it at ALL no matter where at place I worked that had it. I've had that discussion with them already. I was just curious about what insurances (generally speaking) cover so I can have a starting point to go from.

Re: Insurance help
I've had Aetna at my last job, current job and it's my husband's provider through his job. Through my old job and my husband's job $0 infertility coverage. Through my current job we have a good sized lifetime maximum for infertility.

I have Aetna covers 6iui and I found out 10k for one IVF cycle- I was told it didn't but I did some investigating and my benefit rep helped me navigate. It includes all meds and visits/ testing done by the doc. They did cover my blood work and what not. I pay $90 a month for a really good plan. Can't complain

Re: Insurance help
I had Aetna when we started fertility treatment. The coverage included 3 IVF/IUI in any combination. We then went to UHC. That was 3 IUI before a finite $ amount covered for IVF (added up to about 3 cycles). Now I have BCBS. They cover 6 IVF but the first 2 have to be SET. A good question to ask is where your insurance carrier plan is based out of. Even though I was living and working in NY, my UHC was based out of Ohio. My SIL has UHC as well. It's a NY plan and her plan only covers IUI and a portion of meds.
I am sure you know this, but when you are interviewing, you can ask about the benefits and call ahead and ask about their infertility coverage. A few months back we went from DHs insurance to mine and before we made the switch, I called, asked questions about the plans and they gave me all the answers I needed. We were then able to compare and make the switch.
Good Luck!

United Healthcare and Oxford. That's what I had covered 10K for lifetime. Now we have Empire through my hubby's work and it covers 50k. But like another poster mentioned, it all depends what the employer goes with in terms of plan coverage.

Re: Insurance help
I have my husband's GHI through the city. They cover IUI in full and 3 IVFs at 75% only after failed IUI attempts- 6 IUIs if under 35 yrs old, 3 IUIs if over 35. If your dr feels that you are not a candidate for iui based on your diagnosis and feels that you should move on to IVF right away, the dr can write a medical necessity letter. As far as co-pays, I pay $15/visit for blood draws and $30 for ultrasound and blood monitoring appointments. Medication costs vary on your prescription plan.

Here is a link to job openings within HarperCollins. This is the NY office, I work in NJ.
https://careers-harpercollins.icims.com/jobs/search?ss=1&searchLocation=12781-12816-New+York
we are owned by Newscorp. Our aetna plan covers 15K in lifetime IVF benefits, and the pharma covers 15K in drugs.
I squeaked out 2 cycles on the IVF benefits, but capped out the injectibles first cycle.
ETA: they did cover all testing done by RMA initially (the HSG, hysteroscopy, consults..that did not go towards that IVF cap. just the treatment cycles) and depending on your clinic, one cycle could be 15K. I imagine in NY its probably close to that.
So look for jobs in Newscorp as well.
they also offer 12 full weeks of paid maternity leave.
