Travel Systems?

DH and I are starting to look at different strollers/carseats/travel systems. Can those who have BTDT please share your experiences with each type? As FTM I know next to nothing and I want to make sure that were investing in the right one. Thanks!

I'd choose a stroller first, then look for compatible car seat.

I personally wanted a stroller with a LARGE basket. To me that and ridability are all that matters. I ended up winning a Britax travel system, I like it. But the basket is too small.

I like the city select and uppababy vista. We have a vista and it's great. If might try to sell it though and go for the city select this time around becomes we'll need a double and the 2014 vista has poor reviews as a double and the travel system is very pricey.

DH did so much research to figure out what was best for us. Granted, we are in the city so our stroller is our equivalent of a car so we needed a huge basket. We ended up with a 2015 Uppababy Vista and have a Nuna Pipa car seat.

we are doing a graco seat with the snap n go stroller for the first few months, and then registered for the contours bliss stroller. We did not do a travel system. I was a nanny for many years, and everyone had the snap n' go because it is much easier to transport in the car. My sister got the britax b agile system- she loves the stroller, but regrets her purchase because she found it very bulky to take in and out of the trunk.

Re: Travel Systems?

It's also important that you go to the store and try everything out. Different strollers will feel more/less comfortable depending on how tall you are etc. And make sure you fold and attempt to lift them while folded.

As the pp stated, the snap n go is fabulous at the beginning.

Agree with the PP. Go to the store and try everything out. BBB is the best for strollers IMO.

First I would determine your budget. Strollers can start at $100 and go up into the thousands.

Also determine your stroller needs. Are you going to be in and out of the car a lot ? Do a lot of walking? Do you want the reverse facing feature?

You probably will end up with more than one stroller. A full size then a light weight one.

For DD #1 my fave was the Bugaboo but I lived in the city then.

For this baby we did the Maxi Cosi infant car seat mainly because it's light and the Peg Perego Book plus. I got the car seat adapters so I didn't need a snap and go.

A lot of people do the infant car seat and the snap n go. Chicco seems to be a popular car seat and they make a snap n go specifically for their car seat. Then after they outgrow that you can move on to a stroller. Seems like one of the most popular options is the City Mini.

For me stroller push is reallly important. Something with air tires will push smoother than something with plastic wheels. Do you want a big basket? Uppa Baby can't be beat on that end. Before we bought our Peg Perego I was heavily leaning towards the Uppa Baby Cruz. It's the baby sister of the Vista. It has the reversible seat, a decent size basket and weighs less than the Vista.

I have the Uppa Baby Vista. It's a good stroller. When looking for a stroller, what was important to me was ease of pushing, maneuverability and a large storage basket. I was able to buy a bracket to adapt to my infant car seat so it was like a snap and go. I also liked that it came with the bassinet. I wish it was a little easier to close and that the cup holders came attached to the stroller but other than that, I like it. I have an older model so maybe the newer ones fixed those glitches.

My only advice is to stay away from baby trend car seats. The strollers are okay, and compatable with some other brands of seats.

Baby trend infant seats rarely fit an average size newborn properly since the lowest harness position will still have the straps coming from above their shoulders (which for rear facing you DO NOT want. For rear facing the straps should come from below the shoulders)

I have the Uppababy Vista stroller and the Uppababy Mesa car seat. I love both, but they are a bit heavy.

If/when I have #2 I decided I will not get an infant carrier. We barely used ours (DS was out by 4 months) and convertible seats can safely protect a baby as little as (i think) 5 or 6 lbs. I will just get a stroller that an infant is comfy in.

Does the Nuna Pipa fit the Uppababy? We are getting an Uppababy Vista as well, and we were thinking about going with the Uppababy infant carseat for compatibility but I'm not sold on it.

My first I had the Chicco Cortina. It is not super trendy, but I LOVED that stroller. I loved how the seat went all the way back, and all the way forward, the snack tray was a good height, the push & ride were smooth, nice big basket.

This time I went with the Chicco Bravo, and so far I love it too. it's so lighweight and same features as the Cortina just styled a little different.

Yes it does! It just uses the Maxi Cosi adapter. Baby isn't born yet but we love them together. I didn't like the Uppababy Mesa at all but really happy we went with the Pipa. Another good friend who actually has the baby already has the same combo, UB Vista and Nuna Pipa and confirmed that I made the right choice.

Re: Travel Systems?

We went with Uppababy for all of it. The car seat is very heavy but everything is so user friendly. I finally got to use the stroller this week and I love it.
