Tying Shoe Laces
At what age did your child learn to tie their shoe laces? DD is almost 6 and not quite getting it.

Tying Shoe Laces
my DD is 6 almost 7 and still can't tie her laces. I'm also finding it difficult to teach her how to do it.

Mine was 5. Here is a great video that shows an easier way to tie. My DD doesn't do it this way, but it looks easier than the traditional way!

DD is 5 and my DH is trying to teach her .
It's hit or miss.
But then again none of her shoes have laces right now so she really has nothing to practice on!

I guess she was 5
Bunny ear technique
Two loops and tie them.
If she can make the first 'tie' then she can tie her shoes
She watches how I tie my shoes and totally can't do it. LOL But even my hubby can't understand how I tie my shoes!

Nordstorms does a free shoe lace tying class. You have to sign up like 6 months in advance, but it's totally worth the wait. DS learned at that class at 6 years old.

My son is 6.5 and we haven't even tried. He always wears velcro shoes and we're not really in a hurry. I'm guessing by the time he outgrows wearing velco shoes, that he'll have better dexterity and it'll be easier to teach him.

My son is 12 and while I did teach him around 8, he hasn't done it since. He slips his sneakers on and off without untying them.

Third grade too! And many will say their parents never taught them.

If your child truly cannot grasp it, get these shoe laces. I have a 17 year old who can't tie due to his fine motor issues.
