Which grade do they start tests?
Which grade did your child first have a math test or spelling test that was graded by teacher? When did it start? Just curious. Thanks!

1st grade. DS is in first grade now and has an average of 2 - 3 quizzes/tests a week. Some are little fun things like weather, seasons, holidays etc which goes in the Social Studies or Science categories. He usually does a spelling test every other week on the words they get on Monday and a math test on the lessons they learned.

1st grade
Spelling tests every week
There's other stuff took but always at LEAST a spelling tests and math test of some type.
I can't remember Kinder anymore! LOL
2nd grade is still just one test for spelling weekly and always one test on math weekly but a lot more math and reading comprehension sprinkled in with science and social studies.

DD has math tests now in K.
They have a test after each unit.
About once a month or so I'd say.
No spelling tests yet- just site word tests here and there

DS is in K and has math tests after each unit as well.
He also has had 2 tests in what I THINK is social studies (they had to do with social responsibility, being a citizen, etc.)

My DS (now in 3rd) had tests in Kindergarten but they were used for the teachers only for tracking etc. and were never sent home to parents. Most of the kids probably weren't even aware they were taking tests.
My DD is in K now and no tests were ever sent home. So
I was curious.

My DS would tell me about them and when they never came home I asked at P/T conferences and was shown them then.
Yea I'll ask the teacher during P/T conference next week. Thanks!

My dds are in k and have math tests and ela tests ( beginning sounds, sight words ). They also have religion tests because they go to catholic school
