How did you decide what items went on which registry? I am trying to figure out the best strategy to split my items between both registries....

Suggestions, advice, tips?

TIA

Registering at multiple places

Is there a reason you're registering at 2 places? To me, it seems like a huge pita.

It does seem that way. Long story short we have family closer to one over the other that lives out of state, plus some people who aren't internet savvy

Plus both places don't carry the same things. The majority of stuff yes but some things they don't i.e. Stroller I want

I actually registered at BRU, BBB, and Amazon and for mostly the same stuff on each registry.

If I get dupes... I can return it off my registry and get store credit.

if registering at BRU, put the more expensive items on there. You get the 10% cash back there, and BBB doesn't give you that. I would put the furniture, car seat, stroller, and whatever other big items you have on there.

BBB is good for the bathtub and small bath toys, diaper bag, thermometer, baby gates, clothes, swaddle blankets, etc.

I did BBB and BRU for the same reason. I tried to use BBB for things that BRU didn't sell. More of my registry came from BRU. I had no issues with them and have always found them to be very helpful although many seem to hate them on here.

I personally wouldn't register for the same things at different places. That sounds like a huge PITA trying to return a bunch of items, plus I would feel like I was sorta wasting peoples time who probably took their time trying to pick out a nice gift from the registry.

I did the opposite. My more expensive items, including furniture, were on BBB since I liked the idea that gift givers and shower guests could use a 20% off coupon. I will say though, some of the expensive items- Ergo Baby carrier, Snuza Hero, etc. were NOT eligible for 20% off with the coupons. Just read them carefully.

I also registered at Amazon since they give you a 15% off registry completion coupon, only to find out the majority of things I registered for on there were not eligible for the completion coupon. Chat Icon I played around with it until I found the items that WERE eligible and switched them to my Amazon registry after my shower so I could buy them at a more discounted rate. Plus, they were all Amazon Prime eligible so I got free two day shipping, which is unheard of at BBB. I HATE that BBB almost never gives you free shipping!

Re: Registering at multiple places

I did not duplicate any items.

Contrary to pp's, I registered for more big stuff at BBB because from experience, I feel more comfortable with their return procedure. The only exception was if BRU prices were drastically cheaper (more than 20% BBB coupon).

I think BRU has better basics though like sheets, carters flannel receiving blankets, waterproof pads, etc.

Eta: just read a pp - you can't go through the registry but I recently discovered that you can order the same things via bed bath and beyond and get free shipping on $49+.

Also, I did the Amazon thing as well. I saved tons and tons of money on things that I had to buy myself!

Registering at multiple places

I did BBB and BRU. I did not duplicate items. 90% of the things we received were from BRU. We registered at BRU mainly because of the 10% cash back.

I do like BBB better because they are constantly giving 20% coupons, return policy is 1000x better and IMO the store is more organized than BRU but IMO not only for my shower but for others most people tend to shop at BRU.

Re: Registering at multiple places

I did BBB (for the 20% coupon) and Target. I originally wanted to do Babylist or Amazon which allows you to add anything from anywhere but thought it would be too confusing.

I will say though that I was adding stuff last night to my Target registry and they actually have the option to add anything from anywhere also!!! Which I didnt know.

Thank you for all your input it's greatly appreciated. I find BRU is where many of my things are going. :)

Re: Registering at multiple places

I actually plan on doing a registry at MyRegistry.com, where you can add items from any store or website that you want. I like it because I don't have to send my guests all over creation to find the things I like - if my bedding is from Pottery Barn, the furniture is from BRU, and the smaller stuff is from BBB, they can find it all in one place instead of having to check every website for my registry.

I did BRU and Amazon. I wanted that Amazon completion coupon and everything is so much cheaper there.

I did BBB and Target. Some of the items at BBB were so expensive and there were items that I wanted that BBB didn't have so anything I couldn't find at BBB or anything that I felt was a better buy somewhere else I registered for at Target. There's definitely more on my BBB registry but I do have some big things on my Target registry which made me feel a little better.
