Do I give money or take the free opportunity
I was at a party for a kid that was in my son's class last year ...The boys have not seen one another in a while and the mom and I are connected on FB ...not friends friends ...just connected on FB.
There was another mom who I am connected with on FB but not really friends talking about how she bought shorts for her son on sale from Lands End in September of last year, took off the tags and washed them and now they don't fit. I IM'd her on FB about size ...turns out they might be a little too big for my DS but I am still interested. She said I could pick them up and not pay her anything ...she is glad my son will get wear out of them.
They are about 6 shorts...do I still offer her money? We are not really friends ....kids are not in same grade level but we connect because our kids get special services from the school district. My DH has been working on and off so money is not the greatest for us right now. WWYD?
If I do give money ...is 15 or $20 ok?

I would give her something, not necessarily cash.

I constantly give baby stuff to acquaintances for free. Honestly you are helping her get it out of the house, I wouldn't give any money.

I do not know her well, so like a $10 Dunkin gift card?

I don't think you need to give anything. Maybe bake some cookies or muffins if you want to be really nice.

Re: Do I give money or take the free opportunity
I would not give her anything. I give tons of things away and don't expect anyone to get me a gift card, etc. in return.

I think so. I think a $10 gift card would be really nice and easier than baking her something she might not want to eat!

I think it's ok if you don't give anything...especially if money is tight for you.
If she were giving you hundreds of dollars of clothes, I'd give her something. But a couple of pairs of shorts isn't a big deal.

I do the same thing. I would rather give it to someone, even if I don't speak or see them on a regular basis. Better then dropping them off in a donation bin.

I agree. And it helps clear up space in my already cluttered house I don't expect anything in return

Re: Do I give money or take the free opportunity
I would feel funny about not giving her anything, esp. since you really don't know her that well. I think a $15 or $20 Dunkin Donuts card would be perfect.

Re: Do I give money or take the free opportunity
I would mail a thank you note or send a private message on facebook including a picture of my child wearing the shorts (when they fit right) thanking them for her generous donation.

I agree with these posts above. Its great getting stuff out of the house and nice knowing that it will get used. Dont worry about giving her anything. She wouldn't have given them to you if she didnt want to and I wouldn't expect money if i gave someone clothes.

I wouldn't. Just pay it forward. I've gotten so many kids clothes for free that just make sure to pay it forward when dd has clothes that don't fit.
