First periods after birth?
I just want to know if it's normal for your cycle to be all screwy. With #1 I got AF immediately (around 8wks postpartum) and it was instantly back to my 28 day cycle.
This time around with #2, I got AF back at 10wks postpartum. Then it never returned. On CD35 though I had some spotting. That was it. Just a little bit that night and by the next morning it was gone and week later still hasn't returned. I'm not feeling crampy now, but do have this heavy feeling in my abdomen so I wonder if this is normal. Anybody else experience this?? I'm not on BC so I can't blame that (we ARE using protection though), but am EBF so maybe that's the culprit? But I was EBF with #1 too when my cycles picked up regularly.
Would love to know if anybody else experienced this. Cycles being messed up or a period that starts up and then doesn't return. I don't know when I should be worried that something's wrong.

Re: First periods after birth?
I've been having the same problem! My first I got my period around 5 months, and right back to 28 days. This time I got my period at 11 months, then had 1 time of spotting and nothing since. I'm going on like 39 days. I'm still breastfeeding in the morning and at night, so I was hoping it was all from that too. I read that it most likely is because while breastfeeding our body is releasing the hormone that stops ovulation. I've never had spotting problems or anything more than 28 day cycles so it is strange to me still.

Re: First periods after birth?
Yeah, I'm definitely curious is breastfeeding is stopping me from ovulating and that's causing this problem. I definitely won't mind if my period holds off for a while, it's bullcrap that it came so quickly anyhow. But also don't want there to be any problems that I should be calling my OBGYN about It sounds like you and I are experiencing the same sort of thing though. I bet a screwy cycle is normal.

Re: First periods after birth?
Ever since I gave birth to my first, I have had short cycles (like 21-23 days) with heavy periods and horrible cramps to the point where it is hard to function. I have to be on BC to regulate my cycle.

Re: First periods after birth?
with my first, i got what i thought was my period when she was 5 months old...turns out it was major implantation bleeding and i was pregnant i dont think that is the norm though, but i would test just to be certain and if negative, i would just attribute it to breast feeding and enjoy not getting it

First periods after birth?
I nursed my first, and didn't get my period until 6 months, but then it was perfectly regular. It even lined up with where it would have been if I never would have had the baby.

My thoughts have definitely gone there. All the what-ifs with implantation bleeding, etc. I'd die since he's not even 4 months yet. Lol. It's incredibly unlikely though since we'd only DTD once since the first AF and we were careful during. But I'm going to test anyway this weekend. I wouldn't want to end up on that show "I didn't know I was pregnant" haha

Lol I keep hoping that's my problem! We plan on trying in 3 months anyway, so I thought I wouldn't mind a surprise! Since it took me over a year for the last one.
