Strange Coincidence-- just an observation about birth order -Girl mommies first to boy mommies
It's funny, recently, since the birth of my son I have noticed how many of us second time Mommy's who had a girl first had or are having a boy the second time. Just very ironic.
I was trying to think of a list:
Jamie DaniRN KpToys Monkeybride BlessedMommy 04Bride MelToddJulia AliasPook MrsSchwags Corrine Btrflygrl -Lisa- Hbugal Jillysmom BabyCote2006 Charly
I know there are more, please feel free to add your names.
Do you find there to be a big difference in going from a girl to a boy??
For me I do. My daughter was a 'diva' from the moment she was born. My son has been , other than his bottles, very laid back from the moment he was born. He started smiling at 2 weeks and has not stopped. In fact he smiles so much that it takes him forever to drink his bottles because he just keeps smiling through them!
He's a cutie. My DH keeps saying that he's a mommas boy already.
Also for me I will admit caring for his circumcision was far more intimidating than cleaning out the girly knoocks and crankies.
What about you?

Well I went from a ton of girls to a son...
I have to admit that his "package" definitely intimidated me in the beginning..
Overall though, temperment wise, he is very simular to the rest of my kids.

You can add me to that list! Well I guess it's not guaranteed but it's supposed to be a boy.

I'm on the list, first Ella then Erik. So far, I haven't noticed a big difference. I'm fortunate to have 2 laid back kids.

I'm the total opposite, had boy then girl. But my boy is very laid back and easy going, while my DD is very high strung and a little hard to take at times.... I personally think girls are harder, no matter the birth order!

Sorry Lisa, I knew there was some one else right around the time that Melissa and I gave birth.
You are lucky that Ella is laid back.

Re: Strange Coincidence-- just an observation about birth order -Girl mommies first to boy mommies
I went from having a girl to having TWO boys.. I actually find myself that it is alot easier to dress a boy (or two of them in my case). I also try not to dress them "faggy" no light blue.. a lot of sports stuff and alot of matching outfits becasue that just makes my life so much easier. The whole pulling their friend still freaks me out..
Its funny I have met alot of people who had the Girl first and twin boys second....

Me too. They are both pretty similar personality wise, which is good and bad. They both freak out at the same things and like to play with the same things - which can then lead to a fight over a toy.

We had DS first, then DD 3 years later. DD was SOOO much easier to care for as an infant. Right now, DD is in the terrible twos, but I think DD was easier in general to deal with than DS.
There is no gender specific rule to their temperament. It just depends on the individual. There are girl divas and there are boy divas. Mommas boys and Mommas girls. The order is also irrelevant, except that usually the later DC have an experienced parent, so you're more used to how to deal with them, plus they have to learn to share from birth.

Yeah, lots of light blue here. It highlights his dreamy blue eyes I'm the opposite... I stay away from labels, characters, teams... I'm trying to keep the marketing at bay for as long as possible. He has a light blue t-shirt that say, "I STill Live With My Parents"... very funny and it looks great on him.
I guess I kind of qualify for this group too. DD was always twin A and was born 3 minutes before her brother.
They are very much fraternal... completely different personalities, same milestone at different times, etc.

I agree. I'm not into the sports stuff. I have a ton of powder blue clothes for DS. I think babies in pastels are just They are only babies once Once he is older then the plaids and polos will start... I am very curious how my two will differ. My DD is like a bull in a china shop. I think she's gonna beat her brother up

i noticed it too and thought I would have a boy because of it, but nope...another precious girl here
ETS: they seem to have the same personalities and have hit the same milestones at the same ages. However they are opposite in eating and sleeping at this age. (4yr. and 4mths.)

oh BIG difference. Everything too....temperment, sleep patterns, etc.
Now--he's SUCH a boy--climbs on everything more than Aly did, throws his toys more than she did, reaches milestones a little slower than she did but he is JUST AS happy a child as she was (now)

Sean, I agree you are definitely more experienced with #2 and that can make you more relaxed in turn making #2 relaxed, but it seems all of my friends that went from girls to boys found it so incredibly different.
My daughter, though challenging at 2 was never climbing and rough, this makes me nervous and is more typical boy behavior.
Heck one day he is going to be big enough to take me down and that makes me nervous too. Because my son is so big already, my dh is talking about all the football he will play. Call me a wimp but I hate contact sports. I keep saying soccer, soccer soccer and DH says no my boy will play football
See prissy girls for me.
Is this making sense I didn't sleep well

DC's size now doesn't always correlate to teenage/adult size. I was always one of the tallest/biggest kids in school.... until about 3rd or 4th grade. That's when I stopped, and everyone else started....
Soccer is definitely a contact sport. I played a little soccer in HS, and I know several people who play a lot. Lots of injuries in soccer, but no pads. At least football has protective gear.
I'm fully expecting DD to go to karate class in her frilly pink dress and high heels, change into her gi, then kick the crap out of every boy who challenges her.... including her older brother...

Same here. I had DH prepare a diaper for me in the hospital because DS pooped but opened it to realize it was his balls. . I wasn't used to seeing something other than poop sitting in the diaper!
