Bedroom help!

We live in a wideline cape with four bedrooms; two up and two down. Right now my hubby and I sleep downstairs and my two boys are upstairs in their own rooms. We use the extra bedroom on the first floor as a playroom/den. My goal is always to gain more living space so I was thinking of moving my bedroom upstairs and making the boys share upstairs OR moving me up, my older son over to the "smaller" upstairs bedroom and my younger son down to the den and making my bedroom (much bigger) a den or my dining room.

Anyone live with a similar layout? Advice? Suggestions!

Thanks!

Re: Bedroom help!

I personally would not feel comfortable being upstairs with any child downstairs. The reverse is fine, but not to have a child alone downstairs.

I have the same layout. If we ever had second we'd move. I think it depends on how old your older child is. I wouldn't put a 2 year old downstairs alone but I'd probably put a 10 year old down there.

I have this and I don't love it. My older one (7) is downstairs and myself and my younger one are upstairs. I would love for them to share but the room is too small for two upstairs and our bed is too big for downstairs..

Re: Bedroom help!

I have thought of this. I guess this is my hang up. But honestly, I feel the younger the better. They will just be used to it. Who knows!

You don't mind having the kids below you? Do they mind?

Re: Bedroom help!

I like the idea of you moving upstairs & having the kids share a room upstairs so you can all be on the same floor. I also like the idea of kids sharing a bedroom if possible.

Re: Bedroom help!

I would also move upstairs and have the kids share a room. You can separate them once they are older if you wanted.

They actually like the main floor ! I guess less climbing the stairs! I have a monitor that picks up everything plus I'm a light sleeper ??
