Apraxia?
My son is 2 years old and is developmentally delayed. He is receiving speech and his speech teacher tells me she always has apraxia in the back of her mind for my son. When is apraxia able to be diagnosed? I have heard different answers. She feels he doesn't have enough sound repertoire or vocabulary (he has no "words" per say so I goes he is considered non-verbal). Should I see an outside evaluator?

Definitely see an outside evaluator asap. I wouldnt wait too long as the sooner your son receives help, the better. My son is speech delayed and ive been getting him private therapy since the moment he turned two. He never qualified for services at that time but i knew something seemed a bit off when i compared him to other kids. Right now Adelphi does private evaluations for $25- you cant beat that!

Thanks! Will look into an outside evaluator. Adelphi is not high on my list due to a safety concern while my other child was there receiving speech services.
