LIIVF or RS of Ll? Need a new doc

After my first cycle with Weill-Cornell, I'm done. i had my first monitoring appointment in the city over the weekend, which made me lean more towards switching. This morning after a phone call to the billing department and their refusal to help me so my insurance will cover a blood work claim, that's it. Not to mention 20 mins to be connected to the right person.

I am reading negatives and positives about LIIVS and RSOLI. I have no idea which to choose. Every time I think I made a decision, I find more negatives.

I believe I read that RS requires you to make an appointment for monitoring hours? That may help me make a decision. I like the walk-in hours At the Cornell Garden City office during week..but that's about it. I feel so rushed and clueless every time I see the doc.

I am looking for a place with convenient walk-in hours....morning only is fine...and a doc that is actually going to explain things to me and not shove me out the door immediately after 3 minute ultrasound.

I have many reasons why I left RS of NY which I can FM you if you like, but what I will tell you for sure is my wait time was significantly less of LIIVF. It may depend on location. For monitoring I went to the Lake Success location and I was always in and out, I went as soon as they opened. Procedures and weekend monitoring are in Mellville which you will usually have to wait longer. Everyone has had different experiences at both so go with your gut.

I suggest making consults at both to see which you like the best. You will get negative/positive opinions about every RE practice but you need to make the decision based on the hours, location and your general feel for the place.

I have been going to RSNY for years now they are by far perfect but for me I have gotten pregnant there and I know how to deal with office. I get the first early morning appointment and am I out in less than 30 min.

I would not recommend RS of NY. Especially if you are not looking for a factory-feel type of place.

I had no issues with RSONY the staff was super friendly and my RE (Dr. Saketos) was so nice and patient with us. After your blood and sono you will actually sit with your Dr and go over the next steps. I also went to LIIVF and that never happened I never saw my Dr. only nurses. Monitoring Hours in RSONY was from 6:30 to 9:45, honestly I was always late and they never said anything. Yes it can be crowded at times but I feel they still know you personally and not treat you like a factory item (JMO). When my Dr was not around at times I did see other Dr's and weren't to crazy about them I really recommend my RE.

I agree. I know too many people who have wasted time and money there.

I agree 100%. I was much happier and feel received better care at LIIVF- went to Lake Success as well- currently holding my 4 month old as a result. Lots of luck!

LIIVF or RS of Ll? Need a new doc

I did NOT have a positive experience with LIIVF.
I never felt like they personally took the time to set up a specific protocol for me, i was just another patient to shuffle in and out.
At the time, my husband was working the night shift, and for one IUI cycle they, (the Brooklyn office was closed on Saturday because of the Sabbath) I went in on a Wednesday and after years of doing cycles, I knew that by Friday, I would be ready to do the IUI. They wanted me to come back in on Thursday, Trigger that night and i would have potentially have had to have done the IUI on Saturday. Since they were closed they told me I can't help you this cycle. They just refused to let me trigger or do the IUI. All those injectibles for the month, everything was wasted. Money doesn't grow on trees and this was the last straw.
I switched after that.

I've been to both practices. RS years ago for my son who is now five and the last year of LI IVF. I liked the walk in hours at LI IVF, felt that worked better than scheduled. If I needed a 6:30 but they didn't have anything until 7:30 I was out of luck at RS. I could show up at 6:30 at LI IVF and during the week didn't have to wait long. Weekends were a different story because everyone came to my regular office, Melville, for weekend appts and I could wait an hour then. But I'd didn't have work so it was just inconvenient but not problematic. However there were always dr's on at RS. In the year that I went to LI I saw my dr once when I went for consult and saw another dr once when there was question on whether to proceede with the IUI because of timing of my ovulation. Other than that no dr's to discuss anything with. You could have your dr call you but to me that's bs. A dr should see me to talk about progress, ultrasounds, blood work results etc for the amount of money I was paying out of pocket. I have one last IUI coming up after four failed IUIs and a failed IVF at LI IVF and I have switched back to RS to do this last one. While I feel both practices are a bit factory like, I think LI IVF Is more since you never see dr's.

Every time I think I make a decision a post sways me lol. I don't like that I won't be able to see the doc every time at LI IVF.. At least at Cornell my doc does the US and sees me every time. The worst part is going to the city on the weekends. I'm wondering if I should suck it up for a couple of IUIs and switch docs if I need to go further.

There are also other options other than LIIVF and RSNY...I went to NSUH and if you want to see a dr every time then you may want to try there. The Dr is the one who does the us's. I did 4 IUI's there. There is also Dr. Zapantis who you may want to consult with as well.

Well you'll never see a dr at LI IVF if that's important to you.

I went to li ivf and have been very happy there. I saw dr Droesch in stony brook office and felt she always took the time to fully explain everything and make sure I didn't have questions, and when I got pregnant she was genuinely so excited for me def not a factory feel. I didn't see the dr every time but I loved the pa Sharon and anytime I had questions dr always got back to me. Even talked to head of embryology department every time I called and had questions about my embryos. No office is perfect I felt that i shouldn't have had to call about my embryos somebody should have called me... Maybe they would have but I always called day of transfer to fine out specifics of grade of embryo number of cells etc. nobody ever seemed annoyed or bothered by me though which is good.

Yes, nurse, nurse practitioner, ultra sound tech. Never had a dr do it during 4 IUIs and 1 IVF cycle.

What about Northwell Fertility in Manhasset? I find their monitoring hours on their webpage.

I would prefer to keep all appointments on LI. Going to the city is such a pain.

Same. I found they would have kept doing the same thing until I asked for something else to be done. They did the very basic until I said enough is enough, this is time consuming and costly and we're not getting anywhere, what is the plan for next month. Only then would they try something new. Your just a number, not a patient. When my insurance ran out you'd think the dr. would leave you with a plan - nope. Just the office saying they can't do anything unless I wanted to spend another $2k for a medicated IUI cycle, which did nothing for me anyway.

I've been to both practices, but was not successful at either.

I liked the convenience of the main office for LIIVF, and the super early morning hours (worked for my schedule of needing to be at work at 7am), but I felt like I was a number and didn't have a customized plan based on my fertility issues.

I had the same experience at RSoNY, and only stayed with them as long as I did, because they're OOP rates were significantly cheaper than the other centers on LI. But again, I did not feel like I received specialized care, and they were so quick to go with the same routine for every cycle, that I had to become my own advocate and insists on certain tests to be done that should have been done at day 1.

I just have to share this,..Cornell literally triple billed my insurance. The third claim they submitted was over $6000 for blood work. They seem to be stacking on diagnostics that I never had done. I just received a bill for $1000 yesterday for more blood work...the claim was submitted under someone else's insurance number, not mine. I am SO DONE with Cornell. I only did one cycle with them. I cannot keep this up!!!

I have an appointment with Dr. Brenner at LIVF next week. It was nice to be able to reach someone at the LIIVF office instead of having to leave a message and wait for a call back, like Cornell. I liked Dr. Kang at Cornell but who needs this additional stress???

With the exception of the finance department, every person that I ever came in contact with at RSofNY were always lovely to me. My wait times were never terrible. Trying to speak to an actual human being when you had a question was difficult. You have to leave a message and then at some point during the day or the next day a nurse calls you back. I also rarely saw a dr. Usually always a nurse.
I am currently 13 weeks pregnant from them though. I think it's like any office. There are pros and cons to every place. I got a lot of negative reviews for them on this board. I still went with them bc it was the most convenient place for me to go to.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I thought I saw a few people post on here saying they always saw a doc!!! If it weren't for the horrible billing problems at Cornell, I would stick it out a bit. I think I'm going to leave a message tonight saying if they can't straighten out the bills, I'm leaving. Hopefully that will get them moving. I can't handle the additional stress.
