Lost Wedding band

So I lost my wedding band last Friday - I am certain i left it in a locker at the gym at my job. Of course, i have yet to find it and no one has turned it in. It's a white gold diamond eternity band and we paid over $3,000.00 6 years ago. Has anyone ever filed an insurance claim for a lost piece of jewelry? Any advice? I am also wondering if i would be able to make a claim through my employer's insurance (I work for a very large company). Any advice would be great. I am still so heartbroken over this.

No advise here Chat Icon but that's a big fear of mine! When I was still engaged I left my engagement ring in a nail salon, thankfully the owner called me (I was already at home) and told me about it! I almost had a heart attack!

I dont believe this would be covered under your employers insurance. As far as I know personal belongings are not covered under that.
If you have jewelry insurance Id probably just go that route.

The fact that someone would find a ring and NOT turn it in - that's pretty appalling to me.
Such bad people in this world.

Sorry!

Lost Wedding band

It would not be covered under your work insurance. Homeowners or if you had a separate jewelry policy. And homeowners it will most likely only be covered if you added a rider to cover jewelry.

You might only need the rider over a certain $$ amount. I think we were told we only needed the rider for jewelry over $5K, but I'm not 100% sure about that

Yeah probably but you also have to see what the deductible is. Chances are it's not first dollar coverage so for a $3k ring it's probably not even worth it to have a claim but it would really depend on the policy.

OP I work in insurance and would be happy to answer questions if you need it.

Hope some one turns it in. Have you asked your office to send out a mass email?

Re: Lost Wedding band

Call your homeowners and ask

I think that's who I'd call if this happened. I have additional coverage for my E ring

Re: Lost Wedding band

Thanks all - our homeowners insurance didn't cover it as we never scheduled it- my engagement ring is on there but my band wasn't, i guess we just forgot. So the company that owns the gym (it's separate from the bank i work for) are basically ignoring the situation and when HR went to them and asked them to send an email to all the members as well as to put up a notice in the gym they refused and said if they did that it means they are accepting liability of some sort. Whatever that means!! I want to write an email to the company that runs the gym and complain. as an aside, the front desk people constantly have to let people into lockers because they keypad locks always malfunction so part of me wants to say what would stop someone from pretending the locker was theirs and going in and taking my ring or items from anyone really.

Thank you all for your thoughts though and whoever did take it will get theirs one day!

Re: Lost Wedding band

I lost both my ering and wedding band in Disney about 5 years ago.

Filed an insurance claim.

Was a process only because they sent someone out to interview me from the fraud department.

Really I went to Disney, took them off to put sunblock on my son who was getting antsy in his stroller and just took off without them.

NEVER have I taken them off again, unless going to bed.

Did you file it through Disney or through your own insurance? Someone emailed me telling me they lost their ring in a public venue and they were able to file a claim through the venue's insurance and got money so now I am doing further investigating. I will never take off any ring ever again!!!!

I did it through my homeowners insurance, but I called their Lost and Found department for about 3 years after. No joke.
