Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
DD IS 3 weeks old and unless she is sleeping or eating all she does is cry !!!!! I seriously don't remember my first two DC like this at all!!!! We've been to the doctor for check ups: she's gaining weight , poops a ton, eats well - don't think colic even though she spits up frequently cause when she spits up and after eating she doesn't appear to be in any pain! Even while I'm holding her - which seems like all day long - she cries on and off Forget it if I put her down- rocker, swing , boppy etc- cries ! I have to get things done but it seems impossible I don't even know what I'm looking for but I guess if anyone else has been in the same position as me ! She wasn't like this initially just seems like the last week !!!!!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
I am very sorry, I know how hard it can be when they just cry and cry. My sister went through the same thing with my nephew. They had to change his formula a bunch because of reflux/gas. After they found the right one, he was a completely different baby.
Hang in there it will get better.

You're not doing anything wrong. It does sound like colic, which just means unexplained crying. My son was exactly like you are describing and he just had to outgrow it, which happened around 4 months. It was awful and I really feel for you. Hang in there.

Do you have her in a carrier or sling on you when you are home? That was a huge help for me. That way I could carry DD and she would be snuggled against me, but I had my hands free.
Do you have the Wonder Weeks book? It's amazing and there is a wonder week at 4 weeks which could be the cause of all the fussiness.
Hang in there!!!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
It's not you. Some babies are just colic. Crying non stop for no physical or medical reason. Colic is not gas or reflux. The medical definition is actually unexplained crying and fussiness.
This was my DD. And this is the reason I am one and done. It was horrible. We couldn't even go on walks- she would just SCREAM in her stroller. We never went anywhere with her because it was just that bad. I hated the first 3 months of her life. I was miserable. We tried everything, formula change, reflux meds. NOTHING worked.
Only time really helped.
And there are some great tips in the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD which I HIGHLY recommend. That man is a genius.

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
My 2nd and 3rd were like this
For my 3rd wearing him was a lifesaver, I had a ergo and he was content in it. It gave me my hands free so I felt like I could accomplish things. My 2nd had reflux issues. He was put on zantac and it changed our world.
It is so hard and I feel for you. Just keep trying different things to see what works best. My 1st loved to be swaddled and I feel like that is what saved me from going through what I went through with the other 2.

Sounds just like DD1. She just cried & cried for no reason. I'm sorry it's very tough. It will pass though...she will get better as time goes on. Hang in there!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
You are not donn anything wrong!
My son was colic. Screamed all day. All night
Also had silent reflux
Are they sure it's no reflux?
Either way these things helped a little. Colic calm, baby yoga. Burp after every ounce. Has drops before and after bottle
Hang in there He was like this till 6 months and then it stopped.
It's awful and please don't blame yourself

This! Wearing them can also help them if they're gassy because of the subtle movements of mommy moving around, plus it's great for babies to fall asleep. I'd just make sure the carrier u get is comfortable for the baby and for ur back. I have an ergo and a tula, the tula one is my favorite!!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
The suggestions are great and I hope they work and a carrier is great
But if it's colic that is not gas lol
I just don't want you o feel Like you did something wrong too if the carrier didn't work
I say that bc we tried everything. Everything. He just needed to grow out of it

Same here. It was awful. I never want to deal with that again, then all of sudden one day it just stopped around 5 months. We tried everything, were at doctors every few weeks, they probably thought I was nuts, because I was convinced something had to be wrong. They put her on zantac, Mylanta and special formula. I honestly think all the meds were making her worse and just wreaking havoc on her little digestive system so we did stop them around the same time she got better, not sure if it was a coincidence or not. Doctor seemed to think it was.

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
Could she have a dairy sensitivity? I remember reading that colic is usually related to some type of food sensitivities or gastrointestinal issues. My kids had reflux although my older one was a happy spitter. He couldn't be put down though for the first 6 months. My younger one would arch his back and seemed to be in pain when he spit up. Zantac helped him. He didn't have colic though. I can't imagine how tough it is to deal with colic. I'd wear her as often as possible and get a second opinion if you think something is wrong. I hope your DD is a happier baby soon.

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
Are you breastfeeding? DS is 6 weeks old and I felt the same way. In fact he only really just started to be able to chill a little bit this last week. The first few weeks were brutal though and the breastfeeding has really taken it to a whole other level. My DD was formula fed and although I remember her crying a lot the first few weeks while she was awake, I don't know if it was as much. However, I'm starting to wonder if I blocked it out a bit. All I know is I do remember thinking, will this kid ever just wake up happy? I think you'll start to see an improvement in the next few weeks. Hang in there! It's very frustrating. Add sleep deprivation in there and we're screwed. Breastfeeding was a huge challenge to get through the first few weeks. It started to get better, but I still wonder if what I'm eating is causing his fussiness so that's been stressful too.

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
Thank you so much everyone!!!!! I really appreciate all the words of advice !!!!! I am exclusively breast feeding and sleep deprived so I think that is adding to everything DD seems like a happy spitter but I am also really trying to watch what I eat which is difficult since I'm a vegetarian- which really is limiting me ! I did actually wear her yesterday in my baby bjorn and took a walk for an hour which felt great!!!!! I was out - she was crabby but not as horrible ! I'm going to try and wear her more cause having hands free just made life easier even for a short time I will look into the books you all mentioned I thought by the 3rd It would be a breeze but DD is really throwing me for a loop and I think I blocked a lot of stuff out from the first two !!! Lol Thank you again!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
hang in there My son was the same way...its exhausting and frustration bc there is nothing you can do for them. It sounds like colic, which they will just outgrow...usually around 3 months I would ask your ped to test for a milk protein allergy. I saw three diff pediatricians in my practice...the first said i have a colicky baby and there is nothing i can do. The second said lets test him for milk protein allergy just to be safe and it came back negative. the third said let's re-test him for the allergy and it came back positive. It still took some time once we got him on the right formula (i quit bf-ing bc the slightest bit of trace dairy seemed to upset his tummy). just know you are not alone and it WILL get better!

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
Just lots of Hugs. My DS was like that for a good 6 months.(thankfully my first and almost my only child haha) He also had milk protein intolerance and I was breastfeeding but honestly even correcting that issue with my diet he was still a screamer/breath holder and couldn't be put down baby. He was a breeze as a toddler though. It got better as he matured and could do more on his own. He was like that from day 1. My daughter was similar as well starting around week 3 but was muuuuch better early from week 12. She has most a milk and soy intolerance though and I think for her correcting my diet did improve things so it could just be she outgrew her fussy stage earlier. Try to get lots of help and definitely baby wear (and nurse whenever possible because hey it keeps them quiet for the period of time they are nursing haha)

Re: Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
I was there with my first. Thought he had milk intolerance (I was breastfeeding and cut out dairy). My ped explained colic: said it's worse at about 5 PM (totally us!). Went back on dairy, dealt with it & it magically disappeared by about 8 weeks.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong ??
So sorry, I was in the same boat with my son - turns out he had a milk protein allergy and silent reflux. when I switched him to soy formula and have him something for the reflux, he was 100% different baby. I would take him in for them to check his stool for allergies, etc. good luck!!
