Newborn sleep habits

Dd3 was born 6/17 and I planned on having her sleeping in the crib from day 1. Unfortunately she doesn't like being swaddled and will only stay in the crib for about 20 minutes before she starts shrieking. When she sleeps in the rock n play she does much better. My issue is that dd1 started out this way and never transitioned to the crib properly. She is still almost impossible to deal with at bedtime and we've ended up creating more bad habits along the way. Dd2 was in the crib right away and has a great sleep schedule. I'm so nervous that I'm already creating bad sleep habits with the baby. Would love to hear how and when others successfully transitioned from rock n play (incline and cozy) to crib (flat and open).

What about those sleep sacks? They even have ones with arms in or out as an option. That was she's cozy but not constricted. I've heard of people putting things under the mattress too to give it a bit of an incline. Maybe you can do that and then lower it bit by bit so she gets used to it more gradually.

My DD has quite the opposite problem- she HATES the incline on her swing and the bassinet on the pack and play! She'd much prefer to be flat out.

I had my first child on 3/30. He slept in a bassinet next to our bed which I had put blankets under the mattress to incline it slightly. We transitioned him to the crib at 5 weeks and never looked back. He never liked having his arms swaddled and I felt bad putting him down without any type of blanket so we use the sleep sack with the arms out. Since going in the crib he sleeps totally flat and doesn't seem to mind. He moves around a lot so he takes advantage of the extra space in the crib.

Have you tried starting her out unswaddled? DD2 hates being swaddled or hot. The total opposite of DD1.

DD slept in the RnP from the time she got home from the hospital. I can't exactly remember when she fully transitioned to the crib, but once she started rolling, she preferred to sleep on her tummy and we just put the RnP away. It was never an issue.

My DS slept in a swing, and by 5 months he was completely a crib sleeper. Again, he rolled and preferred to sleep on his tummy. Both are great sleepers now.
