Anyone here a medical coder?
I'm looking into this as a possible career move and looking into the different training available through online schools?
Is it a dying trade? Seems like a field many people are interested in but many cannot find jobs.

I am. I don't think it is, I mean as far as I know there isn't anything that can replace us. I have no plans of leaving my current job now, but I was looking a couple of years ago and was able to get a few offers very easily. I am still signed up for emails through monster and see ads for a decent amount of positions that are local to me.

Ops Mgr for Coding and Clinical Doc Improvement. Def not a dying trade... just think that everyone was gearing up for the ICD 10 Change and now organizations are adjusting their hiring needs. I work in a hospital setting so we are actively looking for Inpatient coders. We eventually will move our coders to full remote - right now they are all on site and we will be branching out into the Physician practice setting probably next year.
