Embryo Grading
Hi Ladies,
I'm new to the boards and this is my first IVF cycle after 4 failed IUI's.
I had my retrieval on Saturday and had 5 eggs removed. 4 were fertilized and today on day 3 it was transferred.
Everything went well and when I asked about quality of the embryo the nurses and Doctor said it was a "good embryo." Found out that the grading was 4g2. From what I am reading the only good thing is that it was considered "good". 4 cells on day 3 is not considered favorable - as per articles I am reading online.
Can anyone give me some advice?? Have you had a similar grading and what has happened to you.
TIA!!

Re: Embryo Grading
Did you happen to ask what the grading was of the other 3?
Grade 2 is good. And 4 cell; while they usually look for 6-8 cell; is still OK. You can still get pregnant with a 4 cell embryo.
Nothing; and I mean absolutely nothing will tell you the outcome except time; the end of your 2WW.
GL!

Re: Embryo Grading
I did not ask I was so overwhelmed by everything that I completely forgot about the other 3 that were frozen. I am assuming this was the best out of the 4 right???
Very true - we don't know until the 2WW is over. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks for your response .

Re: Embryo Grading
I had my transfer Saturday as well! You are finding out on August 12th right! Cause that's when I'm finding out..anyways, I have three embroys. They transferred two and frozen one. The one they froze is also a 4 and I was feeling discouraged but even the embryologist said just because you have a 4 for one of your embroys, doesn't mean it won't take.
The ones I transferred were a 2, and a 2/3.
Good luck! Hoping to hear of you BFP!!

Embryo Grading
First off, good luck!!!! :)
From my experience/research, it's hard to accurately assess day 3 embryos. For us, they looked good of day 3, but by day 5 - not so much. Ideally, at day 3, you'd have a 6-8 cells with symmetry in all cells. By day 5, you have a blastocyst with a inner and outer cell mass, which represent the baby/placenta.

Re: Embryo Grading
Just curious, did you only transfer 1? Was there only 1 to transfer? Or are they planning to freeze the others?

Yes only 1 was transferred Bc I have a history of high blood pressure and actually lost my first baby at 20 weeks pregnant due to HELLP Syndrome. So if they transferred more than 1 I would have to do a reduction.
They froze the other 3. We had 4 total
