Re: 12 week sono
It's way too early at that point. We did ask if they could tell but they refused to even venture a guess.
Most people have to wait until the 20 week ultrasound. We had an additional ultrasound (because I'm High Risk) at 17 weeks and we found out at that appointment.

Re: 12 week sono
The ultrasound tech at my MFM ventured a guess at 13 weeks and told me she was 80-85% certain it was a girl. She was right. My regular OB wouldn't even take a guess.

Re: 12 week sono
No.
There is a theory that if you can get a shot of the genital nub, that the angle will show if it's a boy or a girl. Boys and girls look almost exactly the same at that point. If it's 30 degrees or higher relative to the spine, it's a boy. This is more reliable at 13 weeks. Google "nub theory". I didn't get a nub shot, but I've heard of techs taking a guess based on that.
The earliest reliable way to find out gender is a NIPT test at around 10 weeks, and then a sonogram at or after 15/16 weeks.

13 weeks we were told correctly. The tech said she wouldn't tell me unless she was sure. We didn't tell anyone until it was confirmed at 17 weeks though, and I asked again at my anatomy scan lol

No, our tech refused to even guess. We found out at 20 weeks.

Re: 12 week sono
That is really early. You could ask if they plan to do a MaterniT21 test at your 12 week appointment which is a blood test they do and can determine the gender that way. But from a ultrasound... That would be tough. Even at the 3D place by my house they won't do a gender screen until 15 weeks.
ETA if you do the blood test you would get the results 7-14 days later though.

12 week sono
I figured it was too early. With DD we did 3d sono at 15 weeks but wasn't sure if it would be possible by regular sono this early. Dr did mention the Blood test but since i'm under 35 and not high risk insurance won't cover it. I'll give ins co a call and see what cost would be.

Yup was originally told with #1 LO that she knew gender 60/40 which I ignored, then she said "it peed...definitely that gender". She was right. We didn't tell anyone until our anatomy scan though.
