Has anyone been out to Lewins this month? Is there a good selection? Planning to go on Sunday. Thanks!

Lewins - Apple Picking

Went 2 weekends ago and there was nothing that looked good! They limited us to the first 6 rows. We walked all the way to the end and found like 15 iffy apples on tall trees. My boys weren't even able to pick many because the ones that were low were gross. Maybe it'll be better when you can walk the whole orchard, but it sucked when we went.

We've been to Lewins twice and both times the apples were so bad for picking and there were so many bees and flies around. We would never go back there.

Lewins just seems to be too big to take care of their farm to be honest... I've heard negative things about the apples... And we've been there for their xmas trees and even most of those don't look good.... It seems they really don't take care of what they have... Like I said, prob bc they are just too big.

Never been to Lewins, but we were at Harbes two weeks ago and the apples were perfect! We are still enjoying them and they are even sweeter.

Plus, the trees are low to the ground, so even our 2.5 year old was able to pick some.

We were at Lewin's this past weekend and it was great. We picked macouns, macintosh, red and yellow delicious. 17 pounds of apples. We could have picked more, there was still plenty left on the trees. Last year we went around 9/20 and there wasn't much left on the trees so we went earlier this year and it was great. I'd recommend it.

Just found out lewin now charges an admission fee per person (kids too). Going to check out windy acres, but does anyone have other suggestions? Don't want to spend the money if there aren't a lot of apples

we just went to harbes yesterday - $8 per person, but you can buy a combo pass to some of the other features for kids. honeycrisp had the most rows, with some fuji, gala, blondee and sansa. plenty left, mostly in the back rows.

We went to Harbes today. A lot of rows are still closed. Of the rows that were open, a lot of apples were on the ground but we were able to find some descent apples further back. Honey crisp selection was very limited on the trees but we did find some nice ones eventually. There were also gala, fuji, sansa, zestar, crimson crisp, blondee, and maybe one or two others. Yellow jackets and wasps everywhere, but I guess that is probably common--my poor DH got stung on his ankle.

Windy acres is doing 8/pp to. Anyone over the age of 2. It is crazy as we don't need that many apples. We go for the experience and to get one or 2 bags of apples.

We went to seven ponds in water mill this weekend and there were so many apples and not even all of the rows were open. It was the first weekend of honeycrisp. $20 for 10lbs. They also have other fruits and vegetables to pick.

So we tried Windy Acres but we got there exactly at 9, when the U-Pick opens and they were not ready for the day. The owner was out in the field picking veggies and no one could do anything until she got back. Since we were on a timeline we decided to head over to Lewins. They had plenty of apples available, a lot of rows open. It's pricey though, although we way over bought so that didn't help! Lol It was a fun morning so I'd say it was worth the trip!

That's for 4 people though right? Wondering what they charge for an additional person... I don't need 20lbs of apples nor do I want to spend $40.
