HELP me with Kitchen Design
White shaker cabinets, wood floors, stainless appliances (except for the paneled dishwasher) .... I like very clean lines, simple design, nothing ornate -
I'm definitely going with Quartz for the countertop - but I need to decide on white or gray (no black - too much of a contrast)
and I want subway tile backsplash ......but I don't know if I should go very basic white subway, or do a marble or something with a little bit of dimension ........ and white grout? I don't like VERY dark grout, but I can't find any pics of an in between grout color ......
ideas? suggestions? Help !!

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
I'd do white subway tile if you do a gray quartz counter and light gray or white grout-?

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
We did white cabinets, stainless appliances and wood floor. We went with more of a offwhite/gray-toned countertop, although it was granite, and a travertine subway tile backsplash that was varying shades of offwhite/gray. No clue about the grout, never notice it, lol.

do subway tiles but then the back splash behind your oven you can pick a funkier tile design to make it pop! like a white moroccan tile

I'd go with Gray on the countertop to not have it too white. Have you considered doing glass subway as a backsplash? you can do a uniform color, something with a little tint to it, to add some color to the kitchen? similar to the kitchen in this link? http://www.ericshealthfood.com/2815/light-blue-glass-subway-tile/

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
Lighter grout
Darker grout
You Can't go wrong either way
Definitely gray counter. If you go white, they'll be Zero contrast
ETa: I feel like shaker style may call for the darker grout but again, either way will work

Grey countertop and if you want to add a little dimension to the subway tiles get the beveled ones. I have them in my bathroom and love it!!! I can take a pic if you want to see them.

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
I just redid my kitchen last year exactly as you described. I went with a quartz grey for the countertop. It's actually "Williston" by Cambria. We also did subway tile--pure white with white grout. I chose a beveled tile and we love love love it! With the undermount cabinet lighting the bevel adds depth and looks so pretty!

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
We basically have your kitchen but soapstone instead of Quartz. We did a soapstone backsplash behind the stove and dark grout for subway tile.

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
We have similar to what you're looking for but with a charcoal slate floor. White marble with grey in it subway tile back splash. Was supposed to have grey grout but things got mixed up with the delivery and our contractor did white grout. It looks fine but it still bothers me that it's not grey.
Our counters are soapstone (charcoal color with white veins) in one area then quartzite (white with grey through it) on the island, which basically looks like marble without the staining issues.
We did a custom oil rubbed bronze large hood over the stove to break things up. We're very happy with all of it.

I don't know why it uploaded sideways. But we have white shaker cabinets, grayish/black granite and a white crackles subway tile, with grey grout.

Re: HELP me with Kitchen Design
Thanks again all! I think I'm going to go with the light gray grout ........ I just want a white subway tile, no glass or specific designs .......I like things pretty basic, clean lines, classic looking - the tile looks like it's banged or kind of waved .......so it has some dimension.
Still deciding on white vs. gray countertop

HELP me with Kitchen Design
We did the light gray grout with our subway tile and I think it looks really nice. We have white grout in another room and I hate it - its starting to yellow and looks terrible. Anyway, I'd go with a gray countertop - I love the white/gray combination. And to me, white cabinets/backsplash/counter is too much white but I know some people love that look.
