Help- my dog is becoming treat/ food aggressive

My dog was boarded 2 1/2 weeks ago for a week and since coming home he has become extremely food and treat aggressive. I am seriously afraid one of my kids will walk past him when he is eating and he will lose it. You don´t have to touch him just come near him and he starts growling. Please help. He was not like this before. He is 2 1/2 male neutered.

does he have basic obedience training? if so I would practice what he was taught, if not I would offer him a treat and if he goes to grab it pull back and tell him easy. Slowly re introduce the treat. Once he accepts it nicely allow him to take and eat. For meal. place the bowl down and have him sit before he begins eating. he should always wait for your command. If not, while he is eating or just as he starts you can slowly move the bowl away. After a few seconds then min return the bowl for him to eat. and praise him when he does not grab. I would also speak to the Vet. esp if this is a new behavior for him

I would think something happened to him in boarding. :( Maybe they did not feed him enough or some other dog stole his food or treats. I would consult a trainer, nip this in the bud now since it is new and probably stress related.

He has basic obedience. He went with his first owners and then we took him so we could learn when we adopted him.

He was NEVER food aggressive prior to boarding. He is not nor has he ever been food aggressive, luckily.

If he has a pizzle stick he will growl if you even walk near him.

If he has his puppy ice cream treat he is not as aggressive so I was petting him and nudging him to try and show him it's ok.

I had bought him this bone and was INSANE with it and actually went to bit both my husband and I when we would give it to him. Needless to say that bone went in the garbage.

We are still working on it. I am not sure what happened at boarding. He always loves it there, but this time came out so different. He also has this new annoying barking habit that he didn't have prior to boarding. He used to only bark if someone was outside now it's an in your face play with me every second bark. We have been home for a month and a half. I am wondering how long I give this before I have to tell my husband we are calling the trainer again and he will FLIP at the price.
