Disney in July?

We are thinking of going back to disney with our 2 kids Early July (after the 4th) ages 7 and 3.... Am I nuts?

We would be going for 7-10 days. Staying onsite.

It's hot and crowded but if you are going for 7-10 days and schedule in a lot of relax and pool time, you'll be fine.

We survived going as kids during the summer, and my parents survived taking us.

We were there the last week of August and it was hot hot hot! However, since Florida kids were back in school, the crowds were manageable.

We went to the Magic Kingdom after our cruise on July 5th this past Summer, and it was about 101 out. So hot!! Sooo crowded! But we survived! Chat Icon I don't think I could do that for a week or more though in July!

We are doing Disneyland CA in July. Weather should be nice there but expect high crowds.

This. We went a little later in August, but, honestly, it was unbearably hot. Even if the crowds were lighter, the heat was brutal. We said we would never go back again in the summer. With that said, the heat affected the adults way more than it did the kids. Our kids handled it extremely well.

We did it - its hot, yes. But in my mind its hot HERE during the summer - maybe not as hot, but still freaking hot.

There are plenty of indoor attractions, take a break during the day to go to the pool or water parks. Start early, take midday breaks, Drink lots of water... I dunno we had a ton of fun :)

we went in August this year, AND last year... like the last week of august. Its HOT-- but honestly crowds are so light, that it makes up for the heat. i don't know- i feel like Disney does it right. they have most of the lines inside, or at least in shade. so its not like you're standing out there in the blazing sun in line. plus, there are a lot of great indoor shows and rides that give you a break from the heat. we just drink lots of water, take little breaks- and we're fine.
I actually heard that this June and July were the lowest attendance in a long time. i think people try to avoid the heat- which means lower crowds for you if thats when you can go...

We went in June for our honeymoon, and we have been there in August. We found that June was worse heat and crowd-wise than August. I know that doesn't help because you're going in July, but I think as long as you schedule downtime and take it easy, you'll be fine.

We just went this past August. The crowds weren't bad, but the heat was unbearable. Never again would I go during the summer!

Re: Disney in July?

We went the last 2 summers. The first was the last week of July and this past summer was the 2nd week of August. The July week was hotter and more crowded. The week we went in August we must have been really lucky because we got there on a Sunday and we didn't need to wear sunblock till like Thursday the first few days were temps around 85 and cloudy. The last 2 days were around 91-92 sunny and hotter but we either went to parks early- took a break and then went back to parks later or took morning off and then went to parks later in afternoon till evening. In my non expert opinion the last 2 weeks of July seem to have the highest wait times the last 2 years because I obsessively stalked the times the weeks before and weeks after our trips and those were the worst. Our August trip was great it was the week before they started school in Florida. Even with the heat we had great trips both times but the second was even more enjoyable since crowds were lighter and temps weren't too high.

We went in mid-June. It was brutal. I told DH at the time never again, but I could probably be persuaded. If we did go again that time of year I would bring 2 changes of clothes for myself- I did it for DD out of habit but I remember wishing I could change because I'd sweat so much, but I would not have had enough cleans shirts.

Disney in July?

I went in July once and my friend passed out waiting on line for our first ride. I was hiding in an air conditioned shop. Never again.

Re: Disney in July?

The mere thought of Disney in July gives me anxiety.

But if you must, I would spent the entire morning and the early afternoon at the resort soaking in the pool then head out to the parks mid afternoon and stay until close.

We go every year in July and it is totally doable. My husband and I are both teachers so we are limited to when we can travel and I refuse to go during the school breaks because I like to go for 8-10 days and I can't imagine coming back and jumping right back into work! I feel like I am in a disney coma when i get back-I need a few days to recuperate! We always plan for a mid day break for naps, swimming etc. I even did Disney pregnant in July and I was fine.

Re: Disney in July?

I went the last week in August this year and felt it was totally doable for one reason - no lines. If I had to wait on long lines there's no way it would've been as enjoyable as it was.

I personally would not recommend July unless you love the heat and love crowds. My only exception to that is if that's the only time you can go. Then you just have to make sure you hit the parks early, do a midday break at the pool, and then back in the evening.

We've been to both Disneyland and DW at the end of June. I'd never go back to DW in June or any time in the summer. The crowds were high and it was so hot and humid. We were there for a week and it only rained twice: one afternoon and part of another day. I had an almost 2 year old who wanted to be held a lot while waiting in line. We would get sweaty just by walking out on the balcony in the morning to spray sunscreen.

When we went to Disneyland, it was in the high 80s and 90s, but it was more comfortable because it was a dry heat. The crowds and waiting times were also much more manageable.
