Consumer Kitchens & Baths

Anyone used them or know if their prices are any good? We have someone who is doing the labor so we are just potentially ordering the cabinets from them and getting help with the layout. I havent compared their prices yet since we just got measured and dont know how much we are buying yet.

Thanks

They are on the expensive side for many of the type of quality cabinets they carry.

My FIL is a kitchen designer so he tells me they are overpriced for what they sell. People like going their because of their large showroom. It's great to get ideas there and be able to see cabinets but even if I didn't have a family member in the business I would n't order from them again.

When doing our bathroom we had to order our jacuzzi tub through Consumers. We only had two options, one was Blackman Plumbing Supply in Huntington which gave him a smaller contractor's discount than Consumers. Problem is the tub was supposed to ship with an integral heating unit... it did not. My plumber can't install the tub w/o the heater and if the tub isn't installed, tile can't be finished which holds up the shower doors.

When the part finally came in two days ago they said we had to pick it up at their wharehouse in Holbrook or someone had to be home during the dayChat Icon to be able to sign for it. Ummmm... hello you are the ones that screwed up. They refused to ship it to their Commack store for us to pick up even though that is where we ordered the tub. My FIL, in between meeting clients, drove out to Holbrook yesterday to pick up the heater.

Their mistake delayed the completiion of the bathroom by 5-6 weeksChat Icon

I though Consumer's was pricey...I liked the kitchen cabinets at Ikea.

Re: Consumer Kitchens & Baths

Consumers is no more expensive than Home Depot when it comes to selling the same items.

For instance.... Kraftmaid cabinets at Consumers will pretty much be the same price as the Kraftmaid cabinets at Home Depot.

Consumers may "seem" more expensive because the items they sell tend to be more expensive from the manufacturer.

I just had my bathroom totally gutted out and redone. We went with Bertch vanity, mirror, and over the john. Home Depot does not sell Bertch and Bertch is not cheap. We ended up buying the Bertch at Consumers because we were able to see in the showroom the exact model we wanted.

I don't know all of the details, but I know that the cabinets they ordered came in all wrong...several times...and each time, Consumers would leave the old cabinets there, so by the end of it all, they had TONS of random cabinets all over their house.

The kitchen is now done, but its taken about a year for it all to be finished.

Daym... yeah I heard mixed reviews with them. My parents had a custom cabinet built which they had issues with.

But I heard good things from other people. I just had my bathroom finished today... and all my Bertch stuff came in from them... no issues whatsoever.

Lets hope.

I ordered a bathroom set through the Copiague store and they were actually great. I found it annoying to wait with a number for a salesman b.c it took so long but once we got started it was fine. We didn't have any problems.

I redid my bathroom a few years ago and everything was great. They were the only ones around who had shower doors that were the size of a bathtub. The vanity, sink, and mirror we bought there are great.

My family and I (in my hous now) have done 6 kitchens with them. All great. We do install ourselves.

When I priced my cabinets they were half the price of Home Depot for the same cabinets and not as many extras.

We got our kitchen cabinets from their Commack store. Iwe have a very small kitchen-so I was sure I wanted frameless cabinets and they had a line of cabinets I liked. This particular line let me customize without many upcharges-so it worked out better for us. The shipping was hassle free-came ahead of schedule. Beautifully packed and no issues two yrs later. 'My installer hadn't installed frameless before but he was very impressed. You have to have a firm idea of what your wants and needs are becoz comparing prices across brands is not easy. What might be standard on one more expensive brand could be more $$$ upcharge on the cheaper brand. Research the manufacturer-consumers is just a middle man in that sense. Consumers also does no tax sales often-if it's not available now-make sure u ask them for when it is available next. Good Luck!
