RSV and hospitalized infant
So my almost 3 week old daughter (born early at 36 weeks) has been admitted to the hospital with RSV for the last week. Today is day 9 that we are here. Although she seems to be improving, no one can give us any idea of how long we will be here. It's been a total nightmare.
I guess I'm just looking to see if any others out there have some experience with RSV in a very young baby or have had their newborn hospitalized for an extended period of time. I'm just a wreck and it feels like we live here and will never get to bring her home.

RSV and hospitalized infant
I'm so sorry. My daughter had the flu and rsv in February and we had an extended hospital stay so I know how rough that is. She was 5.5 months old at the time so not a newborn but still little.
PaddysGirl did have her newborn in the hospital with rsv at the same time as my daughter.
I hope she can go home soon

Oh no, I'm so sorry. No experience with RSV, but I just had a preemie too with two weeks of her in the hospital. It is soooo hard to have a newborn hospitalized. Try to take care of yourself and I hope your baby is better and home soon.

Hang in there... I promise all will work out and you will be home soon. My daughter had 104.8 fever at 8 days old. Stayed in the hospital for a week and was a wreck. Couldnt even have a convo with my family/friends etc. Thankfully, all turned out well but im a constantly on high alert when it comes to her. She has a very delicate immune system and is always sick. It sux beyond words and i am praying you guys!

Re: RSV and hospitalized infant
I don't have experience with RSV, but when DS was 10 weeks old, he was hospitalized for 3 days for a fever. Not that it was an extended stay, but I remember it being so hard with him so tiny and me not being able to get any sleep. It really sucks, praying for a fast recovery!

RSV and hospitalized infant
I'm so sorry you're going through this. My DD had RSV when she was 11 days old and was in the hospital for 8 days. She was very sick but once she started to get better she improved every day. She had a hard time coming off the oxygen and it took a few days to wean her. PM me if you have any questions. I hope you get her home soon!!!

RSV and hospitalized infant
I just wanted to let you know that my 4 week old son was just released from the hospital because of RSV. We were there for 6 days and just came home on Saturday. It was the scariest thing in my life. All I know, time wise, is that they do say it takes a lot longer to pull through than an average cold. Was your daughter receiving oxygen and IV fluids? Even though we are home now, we are in no way over the hump yet and his cough is causing him to vomit at almost every feed still. I hope she gets better soon and you are home in time for the holidays!

RSV and hospitalized infant
DS was in the hospital in January with RSV, he was 3 months old. It was rough but I just told myself that he was in the best place for him to get better. Unfortunately, he was just diagnosed with RSV again today.
Hoping your little one gets better soon!

RSV and hospitalized infant
My 35 weeker was hospitalized twice with RSV. Once at 5 months and once at 10 months. We were in patient for 9 days first time. Second time was 5 days. Preemies are more succetible to it. We had it a total of 4 times. I would be going crazy with a newborn. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Hope you are home soon.

Re: RSV and hospitalized infant
When ds was. 2 weeks old he got RSV. My 2 year old had come home with a fever from daycare and I guess the baby caught it. We were at Winthrop for 5 days. It was very scary and very stressful. Hang in there. Eventually we were cleared to go home and he was able to fully recover at home.:

Re: RSV and hospitalized infant
Yes, with both of my children but not for RSV.
With my first he was about 7weeks old and we were in Winthrop for a month for Antiviral treatment. He's now 3.
My now 4m old was hospitalized for 4 days at 1 month old for a UTI.
Both kids also had viral meningities on top of the other diagnosis.
Feel free to pm me with any questions or just to vent.
