What would you do? - opinions needed - UPDATE
Hi ladies,
Long story short I just had my IVF ER yesterday and just got the call about fertilization...
I had only 6 eggs retrieved. I was devastated since I average around 12-16 eggs per cycle (this is my 11th cycle!!). We did change my protocol to long Lupron which I believe suppressed me.
Out of 6 eggs, all were mature.....2 didn't fertilize, 1 fertilized normally and the other 3 fertilized partially. They are watching those 3.
What does partially mean? anyone every heard of that? Dr.T said it is possible they turn into embryos...only time will tell...
He also wants me to do Day 5 vs Day 3 transfer! in my 11 cycles I never made it to Day 5, always had Day 3 transfers.....He wants to see how they develop....I was always under the impression Day 3 is always better for those with limited embryos. Since I only have 1 true embryo and 3 possible ones What would you do? Would you do a Day 3 transfer or wait to Day 5....what if they all die Day 4? at least in my body they might have a chance??
OMG this is so hard!!
TIA!!!
UPDATE:
So I decided to go in on Saturday for a Day 3 transfer...now I am questioning myself (again) if that was the right decision...
My transfer was at 11am (early in the day) and DR T was there to perform it which I was very happy about...
To my surprise we had 2 embryos! One of the partially fertilized ones developed into a 5 cell embryo but the other was a Compacting Morula on Day 3!!!! I have never made embryos better than a 9 cell! My usual embryos in all of my cycles were 5-7 cells on Day 3....this Morula was already compacting....remember, Day 3 at 11am....
I was very happy at first but once I got home started googling things and a Morula on Day 3 doesnt look so good too fast dividing embryos are usually abnormal or die out on day 6-7 from too much energy....
Did any of you had a fast dividing embro on Day 3 and were successful? Today, I am 2 days past transfer and don't feel a thing! no twinges and or cramping...totally normal!!! I guess I can count myself as out

I would take the drs advice. I have 4 frozen 3 day embryos. 3 are very good quality and the other not so good. For my next transfer my dr recommended thawing all of them and waiting till they are day 5 to transfer. He said he knows not all will make it and in the event that they do, we can always freeze again but it gives us better chances. Is it a risk? Absolutely! But I trust his judgement.

Re: What would you do? - opinions needed
my first cycle i had 8 retrieved and 5 mature. only 2 fertilized. They did a day 3 transfer b/c I was insistent on transferring only ONE rather than both. they watched the 2nd embryo and it arrested at day 5. I had a chemical on this cycle.
my 2nd cycle we did lupron and I retrieved the same, 5 matured, did ICSI (no ICSI first time) and only 1 fertilized. that one didnt make it. so i was SOL.
sometimes I feel like the sooner you can get it back into its natural habitat the better. but I guess your doctor has his reasons.

Re: What would you do? - opinions needed
I believe you're dealing with MFI? If so, sperm DNA kicks in after day 3. I believe if your embies are going to make it, they would make it to day 5; if not, then it wouldn't result in a pregnancy anyway.
We did IVF and had 4 perfect embies on day 3. By day 5, all were arresting, and it was a BFN. I don't believe that a 3dt would have made a difference. We had sperm issues.

Re: What would you do? - opinions needed
Go with your instinct. I asked my dr to let the embryologist decide. Embryologist said day 3 not day 5 which my doctor agreed with. It was a bfn, but just bc a doctor says he wants day 5 doesn't mean you have to do it.

In your situation I would do a day three transfer. Best of luck.

Re: What would you do? - opinions needed
I would ask Dr.T his reasoning and go from there. That way you go forward with a well informed decision.
Ultimately, in this case, I'd trust Dr.T. I wouldn't normally say that about just any doctor, as I really feel strongly about being your own advocate.... however.... there are few doctors out there who are the exception. Dr.T, in my opinion, is one of them. I just really trust his advice.
Good luck!!

Thank you ladies! really appreciate all your advice!!!
PennyCat, see my update! now I am questioning myself for going in on Day 3....if I waited until today (Day 5) I think we would know more about my compacting morula which I had on Day 3....
ugh, this is so hard!!

please try and stay calm! Right now you have two little embryos in you. Live in the moment and try to be happy. I know it's very hard! I will say prayers for you for a quick 2ww and that you remain calm and peaceful! Hang in there!

So many hugs because I know how stressful this is!!
Stay away from google. You're with a top RE with top embryologists who grew your embryos in a top rated lab. Those experts decided it was worth putting these embryos back because they felt they had a chance. Just keep that in mind before you go to that negative place!
Also, I can tell you that not feeling anything, especially at 5dpo, is completely normal. For the cycles where I got pregnant I "just knew it didn't work" .. and then.. surprise!! Bfp. Then the cycles where I thought it worked, I got the opposite surprise. Especially on medicated cycles, you can't put stock into anything you feel or don't feel.
Distract yourself through whatever means possible. Binge watch a tv show. Retail therapy as much as your budget will allow.. but try and just not count yourself out yet. You're certainly still very much in the game.

Idk how many cells a compacting morula is but I put in two 14 cell 3d embryos and one stuck and I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant :) and I read similar things online about dividing too fast and what not. Also 2days after transfer I definitely didn't have symptoms! I don't even think I really had symptoms until after I got BFP! So you're def not out! Keep hopeful! And relax!

Long lupron is the protocol that worked for me after 7 cycles (only 5 of those made it to retrieval). I know it is hard and you have heard it 10000 times before but symptoms or lack of symptoms now mean nothing.
You are with one of the top drs in the country, if they thought you had no chance they would not have let you go this far.

At 2dp3dt you're only really 5dpo....too early for implantation or to feel anything. Relax as much as you can. You'll know soon enough!

Re: What would you do? - opinions needed - UPDATE
Just wanted to wish you the best of luck.
FYI- with my twins I didn't feel any twinges, pain, etc. I was looking into everything. I wanted to feel "something" and was completely discouraged.
That being said, try not to over think things. You just never know how things will turn out.
