Glucose at 16 weeks?
My OB gave me a paper to go for my glucose testing.
I'm 16 weeks and she would like it done before next appointment.
I'm 34 years old, will be 35 after the baby is born. There is no diabetes history in my family, and I'm healthy (not overweight). Also, no sugar in my urine either. The only reason is bc she said im 34 years old.
Anyone else do it this early? I would like to wait.

Re: Glucose at 16 weeks?
With my first pregnancy I had to test that early (but also tested again later) but that's because diabetes runs in my family.

Ask why so early. But as an FYI - gestational diabetes has nothing to do with weight. Two of my friends who are super skinny had it and needed insulin. A friend who is overweight did not. Don't let weight fool you.

Yes, gestational diabetes is a whole different animal- it has nothing to do with weight, risk factors or family history. It can affect anyone

My doctor actually had me test early because of my BMI. I tested again later too and I ended up not having GD

Re: Glucose at 16 weeks?
As PPs said, it has nothing to do with weight. I was 25 lbs lighter, more active and ate healthier with my second pregnancy yet I had glucose intolerance with that one and not my first. I was told that your risk of developing GD increases with age.
