Sleep study?
If you or someone you know has done a sleep study was it done in a sleep lab or at home (with the necessary equipment, obviously)?
Anyone have any MD recs on LI?

Re: Sleep study?
There are 2 kinds. One they can give you a pulse oxymeter to put on your hand at home and you mail it back; the doctor gets the readings.
Another more common one is overnight at a facility. Dh did one at Premier sleep center in Lynbrook and he said it was fine there. Dr. Cicarelli is the Pulmonologist he saw. GL!

Sleep study?
I did one a good sam sleep center. It was a good experience. They have a nice bedroom type room with a tv. You go in at night time and are out by like 7am

Sleep study?
Dh and I each did one at night and day in garden city. They hook you up at a certain time and you're out early the next morning

Re: Sleep study?
Both dh and I have gone at different points for very different issues. We both did an overnight at a sleep lab. It was fine. Like a hotel room but with a million wires attached.

Re: Sleep study?
I had a sleep study done in a lab. I went in at night, got hooked up to tons of wires and slept (decent sleep). I was able to leave at 6am so I could shower and get to work on time. All in all, not a bad experience at all.

Re: Sleep study?
DH and I both had it done in a lab (DH several times). Lately, I've heard of a lot of people doing it at home and sending back "the device", which I'm guessing is the pulsoximeter mentioned above. Personally, I prefer it in a sleep lab...especially if all they do is read the O2 level when you do it at home. I prefer that they see the brain waves, heart rhythm, movement, etc that is all monitored when you do it in a lab. They also video tape it, so if the doctor has a question about your movement or anything else, all is available for reference.

Re: Sleep study?
I'm having one done in a few weeks. It will be done at home but I have to go into the office the night of to get all of the stuff needed and then the next morning I have to go back in to give them all of the equipment back.

Sleep study?
DH just did one at home last weekend. For 3 nights he wore a contraption on his head with sensors and tubes by his nose. He returned it to the Dr and has to get the results in a week..

Same here. It was weird sleeping with all of the wires, but not that bad. Got to leave very early too.
I went here: Premier Sleep Center They are located in Lynbrook.

Sleep study?
my husband is doing an in home sleep study this week. his doctor recommended having it done at their facility, but insurance would only cover an in home study for him. i believe he has an appointment to get the equipment and learn how to use it. he will do the study for 1 night and then return the equipment the next day. he has a follow up appointment to review the results next week.
