What are you saving?
We are expecting #3 in less than a month! We are moving 3 1/2 yo DD to the large guest bedroom and using her current room for the nursery.
I need to purge and get rid of DD's baby clothes! We have her clothes hanging in 3 bedroom closets and multiple big plastic bins. I had saved everything but now we are having our second boy, so it's time.
I'm being sentimental and nostalgic. Help meeee!! How did you get rid of things? What did you decide to keep? I'll def be keeping her baptismal dress, and some other favorites. But I'm having a hard time even getting rid of all those cute, girly onesies! Anyone do a quilt? Recommendations?

I am keeping things like the hospital hat she had and t-shirt in hospital and her coming home outfit (she wore the same one her brother did since we were Team Green both times.) Her first Christmas outfit, Halloween onesie, any special onesies that brought a smile to my face with their saying.....I have maybe 8 outfits pulled aside so far. She's only 9 months, but this is what I did with my son too.
Doing a quilt is a great idea. I have friends who are PG now and if they have a girl, I'm offering them the clothes I have, otherwise I will donate them to Momma's House or another organization that could use the clothes for unwed mothers, etc.
ETA: Once you start going through the clothes, you'll be surprised at how some of them look. They will be in worse shape than you remember, and those I just put aside for the donation bin in general.

We have two and we're done. I have a plastic bin that I filled with favorite clothing items. I also put their hospital hat, size 1 diaper, hospital bracelet, and cards that family members gave us into a large ziplock bag and added it to the bin. Trust me I was getting so sad going thru everything but if I didn't purge DH was about to throw it ALL out!

Re: What are you saving?
I kept the hospital hat and the baptism outfit (primarily because all of my kids wore it and now, to me, its like a family heirloom). I also kept my first son's very first pair of Nikes because they are so super cute and little. Other than that, I got rid of everything. What am I going to do with it? I would rather pass it along as a hand me down for someone else to enjoy too.

I kept pretty much everything from DD, but we knew we would eventually have a 2nd and I figured if it was another girl it would be stupid not to save everything. However, we just found out we are having a boy. Thankfully my sister is having a girl in July so she's going to be getting all of DD's things. I may keep a few outfits that were handmaid or particularly special, but I would rather have someone else get good use of all of her stuff.

Re: What are you saving?
i get rid of everything. I did save their coming home outfits. Communion outfits and one outfit from when they were babies. Also their first halloween outfits
For their birthday I have bought them shirts with their names on it so I will save those. DD has a couple of years where I didn't do that I have those outfits but I am debating about getting rid of them too.
I also have the shirt I had made for when she graduated Prek and start K but I am on the fence if I will keep those.
Only reason why I am considering keeping them is to have them maybe be made into a blanket cause honestly what are they going to do with all this stuff I doubt dress their kids in except maybe communion outfits

I can't wait to get rid of everything. Unless it's something sentimental, it's gone. My MIL gave us a bunch of stuff she saved and guess what my DS never wore it. I don't need to keep clothes for 30 years for no reason.
Now we just need to decide if we're having another one...

I will keep their coming home outfits and maybe a few others that bring strong memories.
I do find it easiest to give things away directly to someone in need. I hold onto things but as soon as I have the chance to help someone I'm scrambling to give away as much as I can. Now my problem is people keep trying to give things back! Then I have to get rid of things multiple times lol. I do love seeing pictures of my niece or a friend's kids in the handful me downs. Always makes me smile so much!
I'll keep the hospital hats (dd2 has a bunch of teeny tiny ones from the nicu that I can't see myself ever getting rid of), bracelets, and maybe two or three outfits from each. I can't think of much else. Footprints, handprints and cards are in a photo box.

I have 2 boys - (now 7/5)
I saved: Coming Home outfit First pair of shoes Baptism Outfit Their daycare blankets (went with them from infant - preschool) and their security stuffed toy/blanket combo things (you know the animal head w/ the tiny blanket attached) ......those they actually both still have in their rooms.
that's it. Everything else was given to family/friends or donated.

Re: What are you saving?
I kept the baptism gown (which was mine as an infant) and some of the more special dresses - first Christmas, a really nice silk Christmas dress. My parents actually just gave me a bag of my old dresses from when I was a girl, and honestly, maybe only one of them I'd sentimentally put on one of my girls. The rest will be thrown out - outdated and not in a charming vintage way. I'd rather have someone else enjoy these pretty things now than be stuffed in an attic and thrown out when my girls are 40!

What are you saving?
Once you are purging please let me know if you are selling. I'm having a June dd#2 and I realized I don't have much in nb - 12m because I gave it all to my cousin's.
I have been keeping for dd#1 hospital shirt and blanket, coming home outfit, first bday onsie, favorite pajamas, baptism outfit and a couple of other faves that can be made into a quilt.
I'll keep the same for dd#2.
Afterwards I'm setting up a bin of hand me downs for my other cousin. She will get the good stuff and the eh stuff is getting sold in fb or being donated. I have about 15 bins of clothes I need to go through and purge. I would really like 1 bin of hand me down clothes for each size for dd#2. I have a shopping problem for dd#1.
