How would you feel about this?
I've lived in my house for 10+ years. There is a bus stop in front of my house in the am and pm.
I've sometimes noticed wrappers and the occasional bottle. No biggie.
This morning, I'm was looking at my cameras from work to see if a repair person was there and I notice a group of kids with parents at the end of the driveway. We don't have sidewalks, so I totally understand waiting at the end of the driveway. As I continued to watch, I notice the kids are now fooling around in the driveway - kicking ice at each other and running up and down the driveway. By kids I'm talking 1st-4th graders.
My driveway was shoveled last night, but it was icy this morning. They are playing on the ice while their parents are watching and its close to my car in the driveway.
Am I over reacting when I feel like it's rude to not supervise your kids on someone else's property and to make sure they are not endangering themselves and my property by kicking ice and snow at each other? This is not the first time I've noticed something like this. The last snowstorm we had footprints all around on my front grass. Now I think I've figured out why. I guess this means in the fair weathering they're running around on my front grass when waiting for the bus.
My first thought was one of them is going to slip on the ice and then we will be responsible. I'm not sure if I should mention something to the parents when I see them. They're all kids from our block.
Edited to add: I have pictures, but I can't get them to post because they're too large.

I would have a problem with it. Should one of them fall and get hurt, I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to sue you.

How would you feel about this?
It wouldn't bother me unless they were doing some kind of damage to my property. Kids will be kids!

Re: How would you feel about this?
It's rude and careless. I have a similar situation though I am one of the parents. The 'official' stop is the corner but there are no sidewalks and several years ago the owner graciously offered his driveway. DD is not one to run around so she has always been content to stand with me, her friend, and her friend's mom. Many kids, mostly boys, play in the street but they often run around on the homeowner's lawn and nothing is ever said. It annoys me because the homeowner would be in his right to tell us to go back into the street.
On a couple occasions kids have been hurt because their parents aren't watching them but fortunately they've been in the street and not in the driveway- because I could see at least two of those moms suing. If I were you, that would be my main concern. Good luck.

Yeah, I would have a problem with it too. And as a parent, I would never let my kids play in someone else's driveway.

Re: How would you feel about this?
I totally get that kids will be kids, but at some point they need to learn respect and what's socially acceptable and it's their parents job to teach them.
I'm concerned someone will get hurt, or property will be destroyed.

As a mom, you can bet your @ss I would not allow my daughter to run around like that on someone else's property. Yeah, kids will be kids, but as an adult and a parent, it's your job to reel them in. If someone gets hurt, they can sue you. I'd be pisssed too

Re: How would you feel about this?
As a parent whose son's bus stop is in front of someone else's driveway, I would never let my son run up and down their driveway and on their lawn. Not okay. That's someone else's property. Have a little respect.
If I were you, I would definitely be concerned because people who have no respect for others are probably very likely to sue you when their kid slips and breaks an arm in your driveway.

I agree with you in thinking this is not ok. The last thing you need is for someone to get hurt and cause any issues for you. Playing by the apron of your driveway, ok fine, maybe. Running up your driveway? No way.

Re: How would you feel about this?
I would actually call the transportation dept for the school district. We ha someone near us who had the outside of their house/landscaping redone and did not want the kids on their property and they had the schools take care of the issue w the parents.

I would never let my kids run around on someone else's property. Even when we are taking a walk I remind them to stay on the sidewalk and off neighbor's lawns/driveways.

This.
Mainly because one poster here stated "kids will be kids". And while I agree, kids play... it's their parents job to respect someone else's property. You said these are your neighbors. If any of them also feels kids will be kids, they may treat you differently and it can be uncomfortable going forward. Call transportation company and try going through them. Maybe they can move the stop in front of one of those parents houses.

Re: How would you feel about this?
I tell my dogs "no" if they try to venture into someone's driveway when we are walking.
I do tend to fear retaliation, however, when it comes to these types of things and directly confronting people. Is there anyway to put a sign there that says "No trespassing" or something and see how that goes?

How would you feel about this?
We had a very similar issue. The school bus drop off was in front of our old house. We had a fence around the front yard, and the kids would play on it while their parents socialized. My mother in law tried saying something when she saw it actually happening one day. The mothers just blew her off.
My husband spoke to his contacts at the school district to see if the they could do anything or move the stop, but nothing happened.
Unfortunately, the type of parents who let their kids run wild on someone else's property don't really care when you ask them not to let their kids do that and will probably sue the pants off you if their kid gets hurt.
I was very happy to be done with the bus stop when we sold our house!

Re: How would you feel about this?
I know your pain.
Growing up, we were the corner house and that is where the bus stop was.
When it would rain all the kids would wait on our porch years after I was in middle school. Which my mom never minded. Until they started to do some damage and leave trash.
One year the kids were always running on the lawn. Picking up pine cones, throwing them at each other.
My mom called the school district where someone sat in a car and watched them. They eventually moved the bus stop to another corner.
Maybe when spring comes... leave your sprinklers on in the morning.

How would you feel about this?
I would have a HUGE problem with this. I live on a corner house and my propert is the district line so I have bus stops from 2 school districts am and pm for various grades (elementary middle and high) at my corner. Not a single child or parent steps on my lawn, ever. And if they did I would be pissed. We work hard to keep our lawn nice, and I have my cesspool towards the edge of my property and wouldn't want too much foot traffic near it as it was just done the year before I moved in and he grass is still iffy over there. I would complain to every parent and show them the pictures. No one listens I would petition the stop be moved or file a complaint with the police for trasspassing. So rude! And for parents to not say anything even worse! How would they like it if this was done at their house?!I'm so sorry you had to deal with this!

Re: How would you feel about this?
We had a bus stop on the corner in front of a house that none of our kids lived in. We made sure that the kids stayed near the curb but off the lawn. I think what they are doing is kind of rude but I also don't know how much it would bother me. The parents letting them run around on the ice would piss me off thou and the garbage would make me mad as well. So rude. Not sure there is much you can do other than park your car at the end of the driveway and hope they get the hint.

The fact that the parents aren't telling their kids that they can't run up and down your driveway irritates the shit out of me. And this is why the kids are the way they are... parents just don't want to parent anymore. Sad... yes I would say something and be "that neighbor". Or be passive aggressive and put up a sign jk

I would not let my kids run up and down a stranger's driveway - very rude!
I would get a private property sign and plop it down at the entrance to your driveway.
i hate to say it but we are most definitely a litigious society there days and I would bet my life on it if one of those kids fell on your driveway they would sue you.
