coming home outfits - summer babies
I know, I know...there is plenty of time... but I am just curious what is a good coming home outfit for a summer baby?
last time we had a middle of winter/snowstorm baby, so a warm one piece fleece with an undershirt was a no brainer.
for some reason summer confuses me, since it will be hot outside, but most places (hospital/car/home) will have A/C.

Re: coming home outfits - summer babies
My DD was born in a heatwave- 90 degrees plus. I had her come home in a short sleeve onesie with a matching cotton hat from Carters. I had a light blanket to put over the carseat for the car AC
The nurse who came in to discharge us said she was glad I had her dressed light since it was SOOOO hot out- that people will often overdress newborns and that it isn't necessary. Overheating is not good for them either

we got a boco baby outfit (you can google it) for our dd born in July. It was a short sleeve onesie with her name on it, and pants.

I'd dress for the A/C since you likely won't be outside for long. DS2 was born in July. He wore a light cotton long sleeve outfit and I had a light muslin blanket in case the A/C made it too cool. Newborns can't regulate their temperature so the rule is supposed to be dressing them in one more layer than what you're wearing. You could always bring a short sleeve onesie and pants with a blanket if you're really worried about the heat.

I'm curious about this too! I have two Jan babies, both came home on frigid days (my last one was born during polar vortex). This time I'll have a late August baby. I have no idea how to dress this baby lol.

We dressed our late June baby in a long sleeve terry cloth one piece. Dress for the AC, since you will probably be outside for just a split second.

coming home outfits - summer babies
DD was discharged the first week of June and it was FREEZING! That day we had a very bad rainstorm. I packed a cute Carters sleep and play and an Aden and Anais breathable blanket to drape over her car seat while we head to the car. Thank God DH went home that morning, I told him to bring me whatever baby blankets he could find so I could cover her up. My advice is to have a blanket on hand because you would never know what the weather will be!

DD is due in the beginning of June, and we live in FL, so we got this set from carters. We have a light muslin blanket to throw over her in the car.

DD was born in August and I brought 2 outfits to the hospital (both were too big). She ended up wearing a baby gap short sleeve onesie skirt outfit and we put an aden and anais swaddle over her in the carseat.

My dd went home in a heatwave too and I didn't have a hat for her. The nurse who took us down at discharge was like, "That baby needs a hat!" and I was like, "lady, its 96 degrees out, she'll be okay."

I had very light cotton pants and a short sleeved onesie for my July baby. We also had a hat and a light blanket handy for when he was in the AC but didn't use it much at all.

LOL And the thing is too- she was in a car seat- which tends to get very hot- and she was obviously rear facing. The back of my DH"s truck at the time took FOREVER to cool down in super hot weather- because it had no vents back there- so the AC from the front had to make it's way back there- and she was facing the back so it wasn't like anything was even blowing on her I was actually worried she would be too warm if anything. The AC was no match for the heat of the car that day
