If you had the flu...
Did your kids end up catching it? I just got back from the doctor and it's flu. I'm terrified that my kids are going to catch it. I'm obviously locked in my bedroom and we have a bathroom in here that the kids can't use. DH has been home to help thank God but there's times when I have to stay with my 2 year old while he picks up my 5 year old from school. I'm just constantly washing my hands, not touching or breathing on her.
I'd love it if anyone was lucky to not spread the flu to share with me because I'm freaking out over here

If you had the flu...
Get a mask! They sell boxes at CVS. That's what I did last winter when I had flu and neither my DH or my then 1.5 year old DS got it! And like you said lots of cleaning and hand washing.

I was just going to say this. DH got sick when DD2 was 2 weeks old. It was only a cold but the doctor said don't take any chances. She literally ordered him to wear a mask at all times.
Hope you keep it well contained!

Re: If you had the flu...
Two weeks ago I had strep and the flu and luckily I didn't pass it on to my kids. I just washed my hands a lot, lmy DH prepared their meals, and I stayed away from hugging or kissing them. I pretty much locked myself up in the bedroom for the first 2 days waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.

Re: If you had the flu...
Had it last year and neither my 3.5 year old nor my exclusively nursing 9 month old caught it. I was terrified . I also took tamiflu. It sucked. Feel better

If you had the flu...
Last year, DD2 had flu. DH had been sick, so he might have had it too. I was worried because I was pregnant, but I didn't catch it and DD1 didn't catch it.

Re: If you had the flu...
My dh has it right now with symptoms since sat/sun. So far me and the 2 kids are ok, my kids got the flu shot but I didn't. Hoping we get through the next few days without it spreading.

I think a lot of times its just pure luck. I am curious to know if you are contagious before showing symptoms- because if you are, there is really nothing you can do after the fact.

If you had the flu...
I had the flu 2 years ago and I was the only one in the house that caught it. We all had flu shots too and nobody took tamiflu.
My husband was gone for part of it so I was the sole caretaker of the kids for a good part of my illness.

From what I've read you are contagious 24-48 hours before you show symptoms and 5-7 days after

So right there- you can wear all the masks you want, you can quarantine yourself all you want- but you were already contagious and breathing on your kids, etc before you even KNEW you were sick. So to be honest, nobody really stands a chance in the same household.

If you had the flu...
Half our family got it and the other half didn't. Very mild but the sick ones stayed upstairs and the healthy ones downstairs
