Re: Grieving

I am so sorry - I know how you feel. I had to put my dog to sleep in Dec. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I still can't look at pictures of him w/o crying. It does get a little easier though. Hang in there!

Re: Grieving

I totally understand what you are going through. I have had 3 pets put to sleep and for some reason, the death of my cat, Twinkie seemed the hardest from me to come through. I felt like my world would never be ok again. The others were hard as well - but when my dog was put to sleep, I was away at college, so I wasn't used to having her around, and my other cat, we had had her for only about 3 months. It's such an awful feeling and I hope that as time passes, the pain will ease, and instead be replaced by warm, happy memories of your little furbaby!

Here is a poem I remember finding after I lost my cat. It makes me cry, but in a good way.Chat Icon

They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish use to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them.... and always will.

I really like this poem - it is so true!

Re: Grieving

Thanks guys!! I didn't think this thread would get this much attention! I greatly apprieciate your words of comfort and assurance!! Its been so hard letting this great pet go. This was my first dog and best friend. Things will be rough but i know that this is life and you can't keep someone or thing forever. The only thing you can keep is the memories!

Re: Grieving

I think we all can relate and wish you the best. My first dog died over 10 years ago and I still get choked up when I think of her or see a picture of her.

Re: Grieving

My DH is the same way. We lost our dog 2 weeks ago. He has been having dreams about Nakita almost every night. He says they are extremely realistic and he wakes up looking around for her. I know exactly what you are going through. If you need to talk or need anything, please FM me. I am so sorry for your loss. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry. I truly understand the loss you must feel. My dog is older now and in not the best health. Please know my thoughts are with you. Take care. Chat Icon
