3yr old Bday party times
We are looking to have my DS birthday party in June. Ideally we wanted the 10-12:30PM time slot. This slot was booked solid for May/June/July already! July 1st is available but its a holiday weekend. They have a 9:45 - 11:15AM bagel party, 1:30-3:00PM (my DS naps from 1230-2pm so this time wouldnt work) and a 4 - 5:30PM slot. For a group of kids 2-4, which time slot would you prefer for a Sat party?
Also, when would you send invites for June? We are already receiving party ivites from my DS daycare class for May.
Thanks!

3yr old Bday party times
I would prefer the 4 to 5:30 time slot on Saturday (that's actually when DD's party is and she's turning 2). It avoids all nap times and parents/families can still do things during the day. I'm assuming that pizza and cake will be served to the kids - I like knowing that when I take them home from the party, they'll already be fed dinner and all they'll need is a bath. I put the invites in the cubbies at DD's daycare 1 month prior to the RSVP date.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
I would prefer the morning 9:45-11 because it would be before my DD naps. My second choice would be the 4pm slot.

9:45-11:15
DD starts her nap anywhere from 1:30-2:30 so a 4:00 may run into her nap time or I would have to rush her out the door right when she wakes up.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
we did an afternoon party for 2yo, trying to schedule in the afternoon didnt work (he changed nap times in the meantime).
AM for sure!! all kids are up that early ! and with varying nap times, it's the safest.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
The 4pm would be perfect. My 2 year old naps from 1-3. 9:45 is a little early for us to get out of the house but it's also doable. I would send out invites one month before.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
We like and usually go with 4pm start time for almost all of our parties since DD was 3. Also 1 month before is usually okay.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
4pm.
We all like to sleep in on the weekends and take our time getting out. If I had to be at to be at a party by 9:45 on a Saturday it would be something I'd "have" to do, not something I'd "want" to do.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
9:45 At 3, there aren't many activities that take up that time slot and everybody is awake. The whole day is free after that! I like evening parties, but in the winter. In the summer... the days are still long!

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
I probably wouldn't attend a party for a classmate at 4pm in the June.
I always prefer morning bc then it doesn't interfere with the days plans. I'd prefer 9:45am.

Even though the 9:45 is a little early for us, I would prefer that time. DD naps late and can easily nap past 4:00. Honestly though, whatever time you pick people will work it out. If I had a 4:00 party to go to, I would just make sure to put DD down for a nap a little earlier than usual.

I would prefer the 4 sessions. DH and I have a morning routine on the weekends and 9:45 means we're going to be rushing around like crazy people to get everything done before 9.
ETA: My DS just gave up naps so I feel a new sense of freedom and we can do anything any time of day. It is AMAZING!!

You aren't going to please everyone no matter what you do so I'd just pick the time that feels right

You can't please everyone! I would prefer the earlier time, but my kids would be ok for a 4pm as well.

Same, especially in the summer.
9:45 gets us up and out and gives us the rest of the day for family plans. We declined a classmate party for this weekend because it was at 3:45 and interfered with everything else we wanted to do.

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
Some of his classmates are starting to give up naps. My guy still needs 1.5-2 hrs or else. We're always working around nap time. Wonder if in the next few months he will begin to drop it.
Thanks!

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
We are dealing with the same issue for DD's 4th bday. It will depend on availability the place has but my personal preference is the 4p. You don't have to rush out of the house, still have the majority of the day, and dinner is taken care of!

Re: 3yr old Bday party times
I hate morning parties. I rush around all week to get me and my 3 kids out of the house and I hate, actually resent, doing it on the weekend so I would say the 4 pm slot.
