Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
Ds1 is named after my dh mom who passed away. Jewish tradition. He has her initials. It was the only S name I liked at the time. DS2 I just liked the name. His middle name "came" to me a few days before he was born. I didn't want anything too trendy or popluar either.
If I ever have a dd I heard her name on a TV show and love it.

Juliet was just a name we always said we wanted to use. Her middle name, Michele was after my sister who passed away. When we were pregnant with another girl we wanted a name that was classic and went well with Juliet and also I wanted a 'C' name because my original idea was for DH and Juliet's initials be JMG and me and the baby's initials be CMG. So we chose Charlotte for the C and I wanted Madeline for the middle name and DH wanted Mae. We could not agree up until the day after she was born. I finally said to DH he can decide and he came out of left field with Grace - and so was named Charlotte Grace.

For DD I literally went through a baby name book and highlighted names I liked, then gave to book to DH and had him do the same. We only agreed on one name, and her middle name is after my mom who passed away shortly after we were married.
For DS we knew if name was going to be after DH's dad who passed away and his middle name is after my dad.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
My DS is named after a beer. LOL.
We had a deal that I would pick the girl name and DH would pick the boy name.
My husbands favorite beer is Franziskaner (pronounced Franz-in-connor). When we found out that we were having a boy, DH joked about naming DS Franz. When I laughed and said absolutely not, he said, well how about Connor. That was it.
DS middle name is my grandfather's nickname. There are a lot of Joseph's in my family, so we wanted it to be specifically for him. No one has his nickname.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
With DS1, we had a hard time agreeing on any names, but finally started to seriously talk about them when I was on bed rest at 36 weeks. Normally, I would've used the Jewish tradition of naming our child after a relative who had died, but it had been over 10 years since we lost a close relative and there were already family members who honored them. We did choose Hebrew names to honor two of my great grandparents.
We ended up going through a baby book and agreed on a list of 3-4 names for each sex (Team ) and ranked them. Right after he was born, DH decided he liked our second ranked name better and I agreed to it. I love his name and can't imagine him as anything else.
With DS2, my grandfather had passed away 3 days after I found out I was pregnant so I wanted to use the first letter of his name (A) to honor him. We came up with a girl name pretty easily because it was one of the few we both really liked from a long time ago. We had 2 possible boy names, but preferred different nicknames for 1 and I liked our other name choice better. A few weeks before I delivered, DH tells me he doesn't really like the name that I love any more. Then, he kind of gave in again and said I could use whatever name I wanted. I wasn't sure if my water broke so as we're sitting at the doctor's office, we're still going through the baby book finalizing middle names. When DS2 was born, he didn't have a name for 24 hours. I really wanted to use the name I loved, but felt bad that DH didn't really like it any more. I couldn't imagine him as the other name and after talking with DH again, we decided to use it. His personality completely suits the meaning of his name.
With #3, we're using a "C" name to honor my grandmother who passed away last year. I plan to use it as a middle name if we have a girl. I've had another name picked out that was going to be DS2's middle name if he was a girl last time that I absolutely love. It's the same initial as my great grandfather, who was my grandmother's father. This baby is also due on my grandfather's (her husband's) 100th birthday so I feel like there will be many elements that are tied to her. I'm glad DH hasn't vetoed it although since girl names have come relatively easily for us, we'll probably have another boy. We have a possible boy's name with a "C," but haven't discussed it much yet because DH doesn't really like talking about names until the end. I like it a lot, but am not sure I love it yet so we'll see what we end up with.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
DD1: I had a boy name I absolutely wouldn't let go of. The first name I just really liked and the middle name was after my grandfather. Because DH didn't like it and I just didn't like anything he suggested he finally agreed to the name as long as he could name the baby if it was a girl. It was a girl so her first name is the name of girl he knew growing up and always liked her name. It's also the name of a town in NJ close to where he grew up. Her middle name is after his grandma. DD2: if it was a boy we were going to use the boy name I initially liked and girl we struggled. We knew her middle name would be after my grandmother but the first name took us a while to find. Ended up finally agreeing on a name.
My brother and SIL just had a boy and used a variation of the boy name I always loved so if we have another child it will be back to the drawing board for first names but we will continue to use grandparents names for their middle.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
I wanted to name my son after his father, former islanders goalie Rick Dipietro ?? but things didn't work out between us so I had to settle for naming him for my dad, grandfather and my actual husbands grandfather and dad.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
DH picked my older DD's name bc he had always liked it.. I liked it but hated the potential nickname I finally agreed to it because she was going to be baptized in my church so I figured I could give him the name. =) BUt under the condition that we do NOT use the nickname and teach her to always tell people her full name at least until she is old enough to make her own decision about it. Middle name is after my mom (as my father and my MIL had already been honored by siblings giving the name to their kids).
My younger DD was just a name that seemed to fit her , we decided on it after she was born, and quite honestly, it had been on the short list of girls names from DD1 that we didnt end up using... *(we thought DD2 was a boy until she was born so we didnt even have any girls name lined up!) Her ,middle name is the female version of my FIL s name.

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
I feel like I've posted this so many times, but I'll share again.
In 2013 I gave birth to twin boys at 21 weeks, they passed away shortly after they were born. Their names were Aidan and Brandon. Aidan has been my favorite boy's name forever, when we found out we were having twin boys we threw around a few other names but Brandon was the winner.
When I got pregnant again I told DH I wanted to honor our sons when naming the baby..when we found out it was a boy, it was pretty simple..Aidan + Brandon = Brayden.
I let DH pick the middle name, Hunter. It's his favorite boy's name and I thought the two names sounded good together.

Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
For DD we just threw around names we liked until we both agreed on one. I had actually suggested DD's name to DH when I first got pregnant and he was totally against it, but it must have grown on him because a couple of months later he brought it up and said he really likes the name and that's what we named her.
For this baby, we had 3 grandparents die this year, so I would like to name the baby's middle name after one grandparent and his Hebrew name after the other two, but DH and I cannot agree on a first name.
Names are so hard!!!!

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
DD1 - DH and I had heard the name Brianna while we were in college and decided if we ever had a girl that would be her name. Her middle name is Marie. I always wished my middle name was Marie - I even made it my confirmation name - and I always said that if I had a girl it would be her middle name. So Brianna Marie it was! Naming her was easy!
DD2 - We threw a lot of names around for a long time. DH and I didn't really love any names. I threw out the name Alexa and he said he didn't hate it, so on the list it went. As the due date grew closer, I just fell more in love with the name Alexa. The middle name was tough - we were trying to do an R name after DH's father - and came up with Rose. She was all set to be Alexa Rose. I had a c-section scheduled for November 17th. I actually went into labor late in the evening on the 16th. I had actually chosen November 17th as my section date because before I had DD1, I had a miscarriage and November 17th was the day I found out the baby didn't have a heartbeat. I wanted that day to have a different significance and so that's why I chose that date. By the time I gave birth, it was actually the 17th - like it was meant to be her birthday. We changed her middle name to Grace right before we brought her home because we felt it had more meaning. So Alexa Grace it was!
I love both of my girls' names! However if we had a boy either time, I'm pretty sure they'd still be nameless. We had the worst time with boy names!

Re: Just for fun... How did you name your DC?
DS is named for Star Wars, plain and simple. DH is a giant nerd, and i happened to like the name, irregardless of the connotation.
DH and I went through a whole slew of names, and none of them stuck. We finally agreed on Lucas and then his middle name is Taylor after my grandmothers last name/mothers maiden name.
Funnily enough, several people often shorten his name to Luke, assuming we did that too but we've never called him that!

Every single name I liked DH hated and vice versa. We were pretty solid on a girl name (Luna or Charlotte) but boy was a challenge.
One day DH came home from lunch and shouted across the apartment "What about Nolan?" and I fell in love with it. So we have a Nolan Garrison, middle name after DH's Grandma.
