Re: Verifying employment
Assuming he doesn't have his taxes or a pay stub, the only other thing I can think of is if he calls the employer and has them verify on company letterhead that he worked there on xx dates.

Verifying employment
He doesn't have his tax returns. New employer wants first and last pay stub. Employer from 2007 was when he stopped working there. He started in 03. Employer can't get records because they only keep them 7 years...

Verifying employment
That was 10 years ago! How could they expect someone to have that paperwork? You don't even keep that long for tax purposes. Is the company still in business? I'm sure they could provide a letter.

How about the person that prepared his taxes for that year? I'm not sure if they usually keep records for that long but it's worth a try

Can the IRS provide his tax returns? I think it's called a transcript

The account used has since closed. He's looking into other options today

IRS will only go back to 2013! Go figure! Yet new employer wants 10 years prior a pay statement! What 16 year old saves a pay stub!

Re: Verifying employment
Ask the IRS for a wage and income transcript. They go back 10 years. It has any w-2 reported to them https://www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-return-transcript-types-and-ways-to-order-them

Verifying employment
I am assuming the job is not in NYC because it is illegal in NYC to ask for proof of prior pay.

Verifying employment
That's insane, I've never heard of such a thing. I would just say I'm very sorry, but I only keep my records for 7 years. If they want this info so bad they should pony up the money for a background check!

Verifying employment
If he was only 18 and still in school I wouldn't include it. I would just state student for those years.

Probably in the last few months. So I would provide a statement from past employers that he worked there from this date to this date and be done. Pay info is not allowed.
