-being diagnosed with cancer

-losing my best friend when I was 20, I still miss him today

-not being with my grandma the night she died

-losing my dog after having her 14 yrs (cancer), she battled cancer with me, and died one yr, six week after to my diagnoses. Vet wanted to put her down on the one yr anniversary to my diagnosis

My MIL having a brain aneurysm, having surgery to correct it and spending 2 days and nights with her since she has no daughters all while I was 6 months pregnant

Having a baby born with cancer and watching her nearly die in front of me. Losing my 4 year old godson. I will never be the same from either of those experiences.

Losing my father. Not sudden, but not easy.

I was not there when he passed and wanted to say goodbye and hold him one last time. I went to the funeral home when his body arrived. This will probably forever be the worst memory I will ever have; his cold body, in a body bag, stiff, cold, grey. Only his face unzipped out. It was not what I was expecting. Not how I wanted to see him 1 last time.


Also, having a miscarriage and then a D&C.

I had an amnio my first pregnancy and the results came back as the baby having Down's Syndrome. I have a cousin with Down's and saw how difficult it was so we decided to terminate at 21 weeks. It was by far the most horrible and heartbreaking experience I've ever had. After that, I had 2 miscarriages at 7 weeks, then we had DS. When people ask why we don't have another I tell them he was my 4th pregnancy and I can't go through all that again.

Losing my MIL 2 years ago was really hard. I really loved her a lot and she loved DS so much. It was easier to talk to her than my own mom.

And watching my brother go through losing his wife 6 months after they got married (she was 26 when she died of Legionnaire's Disease).

I'm currently going through a rocky marriage (that will probably end in separation soon) and it's been really tough.

Losing my brother 23 years ago and losing my husband unexpectedly 2 years ago and we have a beautiful 4 year old child. Life can be very unfair and cruel.

My fiancé (at the time) suffering a traumatic brain injury 7 months before our wedding and spending 1 week shy of 6 months in the hospital/rehab.
It's been almost 12 yrs and we've been married and divorced since. But there are days it still has an effect on me. I think I remember every minute of that day from the moment I got the phone call from a detective to spending the night at the hospital. Talking to drs. and having to make decisions. Talking to his co-workers. Talking to his union reps. Seeing aleast 100 people taking over the waiting area. Having the news call the hospital for a statement.

He was an elevator mechanic and injured on the job. So whenever I see another story like this in the news I almost always cry about it.
Just knowing what that person and the family will be going through. Or if they don't survive because of it.....

Being physically abused by my first husband and the years afterward, dealing with the anxiety of him hurting me or my two daughters. But then he passed away and I still have not gotten over it. Life is complicated.

My sister suddenly passing almost 5 years ago on Christmas day. Getting the phone call from a friend who was with her is something I replay in my mind a lot.

My best friend and true love (or so I thought) cheating on me. I literally still vivdly remember the shock of finding out and the days shortly after. I would lay on my couch staring out the window trying to just breathe in and out with the flowing of leaves on the trees, it was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. & although it sucked, I feel blessed because I know it's not the worst thing I'll go through. My heart breaks for everyone who posted here.

Losing my father very suddenly and not thinking I'd make it in time to say goodbye. Then having to watch him die and having a nurse tell me him choking is fine she will get there when she can, that he's going to die anyway, "not to worry about it". The sounds I heard that day still haunt me.

2 miscarriages. Hearing your baby has no heartbeat are words no person should ever hear. I have 4 kids, which I am extremely grateful for, but it seems that bc I was able to continue on and have more kids, my miscarriages are talked about by others differently, which is very hard to ever grieve properly.

Getting into a terrible car accident, my DS was 3 months at the time and he had blood on his face ((he scratched himself with his nail, so thankfully nothing very serious)) but my DH ended up needing a double lumbar fusion at 30 years old and he will never be the same and lives in serious pain everyday. His 8 hour surgery felt like the longest 8 hours in my life, watching everyone come and go. I also ended up with nerve damage in both my arms, a bulge in my neck and thoracic outlet syndrome, along with memory trouble. The memory is the worst part, bc I'm already starting to lose memories about my dad and he wasn't a big picture taker.

Losing my mom. It was 6 months from her diagnosis to passing. And in that same 6 months, my son was in the NICU for 2 months. It was a hard time. And even though I knew she was dying, it was sudden and I was with her when it happened. It will forever be ingrained in my mind what I saw that day.

This thread makes me realize how my severe anxiety has magnified events in my life to seem like "the worst thing to ever happen to me." I am so sorry for what you have all been through.

Losing my father at 10 years old. My mother, as a result, going through severe depression. My childhood was not easy.

My FIL and my mother suddenly dying exactly one month to the day apart. DH and I were supposed to get married in 3 months. We postponed our wedding a few months because it was too much for us.
